We're up 55-48 at the half against the Hawks. Disappointing. We have to stop screwing around and start committing turnovers. We're only up 8 though, so I guess there's no need to get worried. We did a nice job of giving up our double digit lead against the Cavs last night.
All jokes aside, it is nice to see the 76ers playing better all around basketball. Dalembert has been a big disappointment this season, but is having a solid game tonight.
I honestly don't think the thread's title was funny. It's a legitimate concern. Why the hell would you put forth the effort to beat teams like the Hawks, when all that's going to get you is the #4 or #5 pick in the draft? This draft's got two of the biggest prizes to come around at the top since LeBron James, but that ends after the first two picks. Anyone after Greg Oden or Kevin Durant won't change the face of the 76'ers franchise, whereas if they were to land one of those two, they'd be a legitimate contender for the Eastern Conference title next season. I've been following college basketball and the top high school prospects for the past ten years or so, and I've never seen anyone except LeBron James with the type of talent that Greg Oden and Kevin Durant have. It's amazing that they both wound up in the same draft class, and it makes it a lot more enticing for teams to tank, because even if you don't get the #1 pick, you can still wind up getting a player that'll turn around your franchise at #2.
