Carter's offensive productivity is vital to their success. I understand that he's probably going to opt out of his contract with the Nets after this season, but what would be the worst thing about that, more cap room? New Jersey is a major market and is one of the few teams that can actually attract a high profile free agent. If I were to think about trading Carter, the only player I'd accept in return would be an offensively skilled big man, like Pau Gasol. I'm surprised the Carter for Gasol rumors aren't stronger, because although that deal wouldn't make much sense from the Grizzlies' perspective, they're not exactly a franchise with a history of making logical moves. If I were the Nets, I'd be throwing every scenario in the book at them to get Gasol. He's just what they need: he's long, athletic, can run the floor well, and he's equally adept working out of the post in a half-court setting as he is playing transition basketball. That's not to mention that he's one of the most unselfish bigs in the league right now.
lol of that happens the Jazz would become a complete team! theyve got a big guy in boozer, a reliable pg in deron and now a star scorer in vince... i hope this does not happen lol
Why would NJ do this deal? They need a true big man who can play in the post. Also, A.K. is a good player but he is nowhere near the offensive weapon VC is.
You list the Jazz as one of your favorite teams, yet you don't want them to improve...interesting... Anyway, I'm not sure about this trade. AK is very injury prone, but so is Carter. Both are having unimpressive seasons so far (Carter has only now redeemed himself and started playing some real ball). Vince excelles in offense and isn't a good defender; Kirilenko is an all-NBA defender who struggles with his shot. I think right now, defense is important for the Nets but offense if much more important. I agree with Voodoo Child, VC shouldn't be traded for someone who can't score more than 15 points in a game. Who'll pick up the scoring? With RJ injured, it's even worse. Gasol, on the other hand, is a great offensive player and he would improve the team if we trade for him. So, we don't really need/want/should trade for Kirilenko right now, unless we trade RJ for him(I wouldn't be against that as long as Carter stays for a few more seasons and doesn't opt out, which can't be counted on), or a few benchies and picks (very unlikely).
Utah isn't interested anyway. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Andrei Kirilenko has heard the rumors that the Nets made a play for him--rumors that some have denied--and finds them flattering, because of who the Nets reportedly offered in return: Vince Carter. The Jazz, however, have no interest in trading AK-47 in spite of his recurring injuries and his dissatisfaction with his role.</div> Source

Not only is he injury prone, but he's not contributing on either end of the floor this season. At that kind of money, I'd be expecting a superstar kind of effort at least on one end of the floor.

They would consider trading VC if they can't re-sign him. AK would be a nice aquasition instead of letting carter leave for nothing.
terrible trade for new jersey if you compare their averages: andrei kirilenko: PPG 9.2 RPG 5.3 APG 3.6 SPG 1.03 BPG 2.08 FG% .465 FT% .748 3P% .236 MPG 31.8 vince carter: PPG 25.1 RPG 5.7 APG 4.5 SPG 1.09 BPG .36 FG% .456 FT% .791 3P% .343 MPG 38.4 clearly carter is the better player, but at the same time its not always about stats. if new jersey were to complete this trade then they would obviously be seeing some serious potential from ak and hoping that they can bring it out of him.

Then Jefferson should get more looks and develop into the playmaker that he has shown flashes of
