Interesting, I never saw Tyrus as a contest type dunker, but then again I thought the same of Amare. As long as Carney's in it I'm good.
Never thought about that. He's got some crazy ups as everyone already knows. I'm pretty sure his cordination isn't there yet though.
I like Tyrus as an in game dunker, but not in the dunk contest. He's more of a Marion type dunker to me.

I don't think he'd do well in a dunk contest. I don't think he can pull off any amazing dunks. He's just got sick hops and can do normal dunks. Edit: Actually later on I was reading the today's newspaper and it said that like after one of last weeks practices Thomas was doing some trick dunks while his teamates were watching and commenting.
Don't sleep on Tyrus, when you got his athletic ability anything is possible. http://www.youtube.com/v/EZgdQZShX9o
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Howard, Thomas And Green To Join Nate In Dunk Contest 5th February, 2007 - 2:37 pm Press Release - New York’s Nate Robinson will defend his crown in the 2007 Sprite Slam Dunk competition to be held on NBA All-Star Saturday Night presented by EA SPORTS™, Feb. 17 at Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas. Robinson will compete against three first-time entrants – Boston’s Gerald Green, who is an alumnus of the NBA Development League, Orlando’s Dwight Howard and Chicago’s Tyrus Thomas – for this year’s title. Last year in Houston, the 5-9 Robinson outlasted Philadelphia’s Andre Iguodala 47-46 in a dunk-off to become only the second sub-6-foot winner in contest history joining Spud Webb, the 1986 champion. Webb provided the bounce pass for Robinson’s only 50-point dunk of the competition. [READ]</div> Source
Now we got two shots at coming away from this weekend with some hardware. I think Tyrus will surprise people.
Big men never are able to do what others can. IE: Amare Stoudamire and a long list of others. He isn't too tall though, perhaps he will be able to prove that big man can win the dunk contest once and for all. As cheesy as the dunk contest is anyway.

I'm glad that the NBA's next generation is committed to proving me wrong, that they really do care about the game, and not just money. Oh wait. Whoops.
