I thought that it would be a good idea to have a thread where we can all discuss the lakers prospects for this years playoffs. Where will we be? Who will we play? will we play better than we did last playoffs? will we go past the first round? who will step up and become a force?

I believe they will finish 5th just above the Rockets. I only say this because I really do not trust the health of that team (T-Mac will always have back problems, and Yao has missed quite a noticeable amount of games the last two years). I'm predicting that the Jazz will finish fourth since they will win their division, and the Lakers will have to face off with them in the playoffs.

If Odom starts playing 19/10/6 and we get Kwame and Luke back 100% healthy. I definitely see us beating the Spurs, Jazz and Houston for the third spot just by having a better record than them. My playoff seeding predictions are as follow:
    Mavs
    Suns
    Lakers
    Spurs
    Jazz
    Houston
    Denver
    Minesota
The 3,4,5,6 are going to be really tight this years since all four teams are within 1 to 2 games of each other and its going to come down to who one the season series. In addition, the 7 and 8 spots are also going to be a tight race but wont have great record as the 3,4,5,6. And then ofcourse the Mavs and Suns will probably end up with less than 18 losses.

I think we'll get to the second round at least. Honestly I can see a lot of teams sleeping on the Lakers because of our injuries all season, and everything falling in place for us in the playoffs. I wouldn't be shocked to see what happen to Miami last year (everything clicking) happen to LA this year

Exactly what I'm thinking once the playoffs come around. The Lakers can get deep in the playoffs if they peak at the right time. When our roster is fully healed, we're going to be tough to beat in 7 games. Our depth gives us the edge over a lot of teams in the West.

I'm concerned about the defense, but the Lakers have plenty of games left to figure it out.
