A recent Sports Illustrated article brought up the possibility of a Grant Hill and Darko Milicic for Jason Kidd trade. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The Nets then need to top this by shipping Kidd to Orlando for Grant Hill and Darko Milicic, followed quickly with a buyout of Hill's contract to allow the 12-year veteran to latch on with a playoff squad. Grant's expiring deal would then give the Nets a huge chunk of cap space to work with this summer, more or far less depending on what they decide to do with Darko. With Marcus Williams, Jefferson, Kirilenko, Krstic, Milicic and Hassan Adams, the Nets would field a longer, more athletic, up-tempo team that wouldn't boast two players with max contracts on the wrong side of 30. Best of all, they'd have cap flexibility, and wouldn't consider a 45-win season (with a $65 million payroll) a smashing success. We admire, to no end, Kidd's ability to turn back the clock and have his best season in years, but this is a Nets team that is capped out and with no trading pieces beyond the Big Three. If it wants to do anything besides act as a no-bench also-ran in the East, it will have to develop some depth and flexibility by breaking up this well-compensated triptych.</div> Source PG: Jason Kidd SG: Trevor Ariza SF: Hedo Turkoglu PF: Tony Battie C: Dwight Howard This would be amazing for Dwight Howard. What are your thoughts?
Doesn't seem like nearly enough for Kidd. Basically the Nets get Darko, whom they have to extend and is not a sure thing to remain with the Nets. If the Nets elect to trade Kidd, they need to collect assests, and they arent getting much here.

Also, they get Grant Hill's expiring contract which would give them tons of money to sign someone this offseason. Like Chuck said, I'd be willing to add other players as well (Arroyo, Dooling, Garrity, Diener, or the rights to Fran).
man i would love this.. kidd is one of the premiere pg's in the league. He is a little older but coming to a young team my inspire him to play at a higher level. If this happens I swear ill go to every magic home game the rest of the year

If the Nets would do it I would do it in a heartbeat. We could deal Jameer for a big man and they say that they will cut Grant Hill and he will sign with a contender, what if we resign him? I would much rather see if they would do Hill, Jameer, rights to Fran and a future first than get rid of Darko(although that's probably why they do it). I can't fathom how happy Dwight would be if they brought in Jason Kidd to give him the ball.
While I'd also like to trade Jameer before Darko, New Jersey already has Marcus Williams so they wouldn't need Nelson. Milicic is the main reason they'd accept this trade since they have a weak front court. If they did cut Grant Hill, it would be awesome if we could resign him for the minimum. We'd be a contender with Kidd and Howard and he'd be able to stay in Orlando since he loves it so much here. I can't see any reason not to do this trade. Kidd, Hill, Ariza, Battie, and Howard is sick. Hedo would return to his role as sixth man and would give our second unit another offensive threat. Dwight Howard would benefit so much like Gators said. Look at what Amare is doing with a great point guard in Steve Nash. Jason Kidd is a pure point guard and is one of the best playmakers in the league so he'd do wonders for Howard. He can lead the fast break and run any half court offense to perfection. He also brings veteran leadership and playoff experience which is a must for a young team such as ours. Otis needs to get on the phone with Rod Thorn as soon as possible!
The incentive for the Nets isn't in Hill's talent or Milicic's potential (or his "assumed" potential) but rather Hill's expiring contract. With Carter apparently jumping ship this offseason and Kidd getting older, the Nets are trying to acquire youth and cap room. However, while that may be a decent strategy, I'd hold off on making any moves until the offseason if I were them. They're one of the hottest teams in the league right now, and as far as I'm concerned, they still have a legitimate chance to go deep in the playoffs when Jefferson comes back. With Kidd at the helm, anything is possible. A Kidd-Howard combination would be absolutely lethal though. Don't be fooled by Kidd's age, because he's only a year or so older than Nash, and at this point, he's putting up the same kind of numbers than he put up during his prime and is playing some of the best defense of his career. If the Magic were able to pull off the move in this season, they'd immediately become my favorite to win the East.
Brb, need to change my pants. The thought of Kidd and Dwight together is insane. DO IT OTIS!!!!!!!!!!!! THROW IN ARROYO AND GARRITY!!!!
