I have been hearing a lot of talk of Cutler falling as far as Denver or Minnesota - I don't know what to think about this (I'd be ecstatic). I just can't imagine a team like Baltimore passing on Cutler when they have such a glaring need at QB. Do others think that Cutler has the chance to fall this low (if the Rams have a shot at him, they should take him as well)?
Yeah I've been hearing the same thing. Arizona has needs on D. I hear they love Ernie Sims. Rams have needs on every defensive position. It would be hard for the Ravens to pass on Cutler. Perhaps the Vikings could trade up to 12.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (bakes781)</div><div class='quotemain'>Perhaps the Vikings could trade up to 12.</div> Fran Foley (director of player personel) has said that it would be reasonable to move up 5 - 6 spots, but no more than that if the right player is on the board. This is currently what I am hoping for, but I wouldn't be upset with Simms or Greenway at 17 either... I just don't want to get to excited about the possibility of Cutler wearing Purple, learning behind an old vet, and taking the reigns in the future.
Baltimore is probably the next destanation for Steve McNair. The team I think you have to worry about getting Cutler outside of the logical spot the Cardinals is the Rams. Lineham needs a younger QB and needs someone for his offense. I think Cutler is a perfect fit and could be the heir apparent to Bulger.

A. Wright just signed w/ Cincy. Even if the Ravens get McNair, their depth chart IMO is still lacking. If Cutler isn't selected by Arizona who lost McCown & has precious little after Warner then the Rams will scoop him up. As stated previously, The Rams could go w/ the rationale that Bulger is injury prone and Gus is a stop gap. What then happens to Fitzpatrick, who Martz signed as an UDFA from Harvard last year? I doubt Jay makes as far as 17. Minny will go w/ a QB in round 2. Croyle? Whitehurst? Even round 3 is too early for Clemens IMO.
hey i've been saying this about Cutler i think if he is on USC like Leinart then hes a top 5 easy pick. He has to possibility to pull a Rothelisbergr and be the best QB in the draft
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (bakes781)</div><div class='quotemain'>You could probably get up to as high as 9 by just trading one of your two 2nd rounders along with 17.</div> I'd hate to give up all that to move up 8 spots - we also have a big need a linebacker which we could address at 17.
The draft is sooo deep at LB though, you could still pickup a decent one in the 2nd or maybe even the early 3rd round.
True. I'd like to see the team come away with at least 2 LB'ers. We need A LOT of help there, and the new defensive scheme is going to rely on speedy LBs. I wouldn't mind seeing the right guard position addressed, a mid-round WR with some upside, and a 3rd corner, although I think some of our guys from last year can step up in this area. Personally, if we don't get Cutler, I'd almost prefer to see us wait until next years draft to get the QB of the future and do some simple patchwork next year if Johnson doesn't work out. But, I'm still hoping for Cutler to fall far enough for us to pick him up either through trading up or taking him at 17.
Jay Cutler is the best QB in the draft. Cardinals should pick him, unless Veron Davis falls to them. I think it would be extremly hard for brian billick passing on Cutler.

He'll likely fall because teams are starting to relize this guy is overhyped by the media. I watched the combine and Senior Bowl and their practices. He was average. Guys like Chris Mortenson say he blew people out of the water. When in reality he was average. I think he goes as high as #7 and could fall to the Vikings. I think the Rams or Cardinals are likely destinations.
I really don't think the Cardinals pick him, but the Rams will if he is available. Denny is going to give his try at drafting defense in the first round.

He is a very good QB, and much better a prospect than young IMO. Leinart is clearly better now. How they finish careers though, may be completely different.
I dont think the Rams would take him. They have a pro bowl QB in Marc Bulger. I think he wont get past the ravens

Deion Sanders was on Best Damn Sports show... He said he would take Vince over Matt. His logic (if you can call it that) was that VY is ready to play right now whereas Leinart will take some time develop. What? Did Deion hit his head & get his brains scrambled? If so, his injury didn't happen making a tackle.

Exactly - and the word here is that Linehan wants that extra insurance of a future QB who can lead the franchise. The question really is, do the rams address another need or even trade down for picks rather than spend a first on another QB.
Bulger has like 2 years left on his deal and is in his 30's. He's not the future in St. Louis. Cutler is a great fit for the Rams.
