<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Even with Al Harrington and Stephen Jackson as his new sidekicks, this is still Baron Davis' team. And the Warriors' franchise player blasted his squad after it was throttled on the road again, this time a 124-97 dousing by the LeBron-less Cavaliers. "We've got the worst road record of any team in the NBA, so who are we fooling, man? Who are we fooling?" Davis said of the Warriors' postseason hopes. "How are we going to be a playoff team (when) we can't win on the road? "We're fooling ourselves." Davis was simply in no mood to sugarcoat after the Warriors started their six-game road trip by losing their fifth straight away from home and falling to 4-16 on the season. Three nights after putting up 40 points in the first quarter against Charlotte, the Warriors struggled to hit 20 against a Cavaliers team missing LeBron James because of a sprained right toe. The Warriors' hustling defense was replaced by wayward three-pointers as the Cavs reeled off 14 straight points at the end first quarter to blow open the rematch (Cleveland beat the Warriors 106-104 at Oracle Arena on Jan. 20). The Warriors were not heard from again. That is, until after the final horn sounded. "People have got to get serious about winning, that's all. We've got some guys that don't know how to prepare for games and it shows in their play," said Davis, who led the Warriors with 21 points and eight assists, but went 1-for-7 from three-point range. "I mean, it's shocking that we get beat like that and LeBron is out. We talked about it this morning and before the game that they were going to come out and play with a lot of hustle and passion. "It's like it's falling on deaf ears." The team captain didn't single out anybody, but when asked what could be done to avoid future letdowns, Davis didn't seem to spare anyone, including himself or his teammates old and new. "Is he frustrated? Yeah, he's frustrated. We all are," said Harrington, who had 13 points and eight rebounds. "Obviously, he has frustrations built up from before we got here, stuff like that, but I just told him this is a new team. Before, he felt that some guys quit on him. ... "We're not quitters. We're going to play as hard as we can every night and do everything we can to help make his job easier and help him motivate guys." </div> Source
Interesting. I remember Mickael Pietrus blasted his teammates maybe three or four seasons ago and the team reacted very well. They went on to beat the Spurs and went on a good win streak. I don't know what to make out of Harrington's "this is a new team" statement. The roster seems quite similar to how it has been all year minus some production from Dunleavy who is not here anymore. I can't wait for JRich to return now.
Hopefully this lights a fire under their asses. Personally I hope we trade for Gasol, Warriors are just too damn thin.
Totally agree with Baron Davis. I'm trying to be positive, but this is reality IMO. We're not good yet. We're just looking for some kind of hope. It's frustrating for the players and it's frustrating for the fans.
We need to rattle off 4 wins and play close if not win in Minnesota! Last night's loss was disgusting. I normally talk to a buddy in my class about our teams (he is a Spurs fan), but I was embarrassed to even look at him. We did not even talk today! lol. I hope we can win big tonight and take out our frustrations on the Hawks...
Cue up Cosell: "I tell it like it is." Sorry youngsters, Howard Cosell was the best in my 43 years and I wish he was still here. Baron's thoughts are right on. Blown out by the Hawks? Not even competitive? That's not acceptable. 0-14 from 3 pt land? You're not Ray Allen, you need to change. Haven't even looked at the box score, I bet Baron and Pietrus combined for 0-8 at least.
Damn right, it shouldn't have to be like this for fans. It's just disaster after disaster waiting to happen.
Looks like it didn't work. You can say the Hawks are a better team than they appear to be on paper, but it's just another sorry excuse. This may be the worst road team I've ever watched. If only we could play 41 games in Dallas.
