It may be too much, too little, too late, but JRich would be welcome back with open arms. I want to see how he does with the new Warriors and where Nelson plays him. He could play some SF in order to increase the rebounding similar to what happened with all-star (to be imho) Josh Howard. Howard is a good candidate to replace Yao on the West roster.
I predict same things as before, with Jrich back we float around 10th-12th place in the Western Conference and finally start winning games in streaks when we're so far out of the playoff race it doesn't matter anymore (unless we're concerned about better lottery draft position). The huge winning streaks at the very end of the season (as before, whether pressure or guys playing for new contracts) prompts many warrior fans to believe that next year is the year... for REAL this time! It's not that Jrich is a bad player, it's just that guys we surround him with are not ready or not good for the types of roles we need to make a team. We're not really a team if we're missing some guys who can fill in for important things like rebounding, interior defense and scoring. Inside to outside type kickouts when the guards can't penetrate all the time. A good strong player has so much impact over just small guys that are just quicker. Especially if we ain't looking to get fouled because we're jacking long ball shots or missing free throws.
Oh yeah and having a big guy that can connect inside and bang is a sure way to get guys touch fouling or intentionally fouling to save a layup or a dunk. That's why I hope we find another player like Ike Diogu, only more physically equipped to play fast or slow. And if we get that player Don Nelson better feed him the ball because the big dog won't protect the yard if you don't throw him a bone. That's my main concern with anything Don Nelson is that he plays a style that caters to guards and he won't be patient with any big man unless it's the kind you don't have to worry about on offense like Dale Davis or Etan Thomas or somebody. Jrich will be a badass player if he gets those types of guys around him. He's already proven he's a good player in Monty or Nelly type offense (when Muss ran and gunned). It doesn't matter.

This is assuming that the player is not completely inept at offense or defense respectably. I.e. they are not like Foyle on offense or Harrington/Murphy/Ike/etc on defense. Ideally a player who could do all those things would be great, but those players are rare. Also would your answer change depending on the Coach?

Nelson didn't give Ike a chance. I've never seen a coach so adverse against using big men when we really need big men. There's players worse and boneheaded than Ike and Nelson totally made it out like he shouldn't have even been drafted. We don't have a Dirk Nowitzki or a Lamar Odom or KG and he's not getting anyone emulating those players in our lineup (certainly not Al Harrington or Sjax or Barnes or any of those guys). I kind of wish we did have a new coach, but is as reputable as Nelson is for regular season games. Instead we got a coach who believes offense is the best defense, but I'm not sure that will work unless we got several all-star players who can wear down the other team with a constant barrage of trips to the foul line. But what good would a chance in coach do when his gm/ownership run a sad franchise and pick the wrong players and the wrong fit. There's probably not a whole lot of impact players we could attract because we keep failing to the point where good FA's want to be overpaid in order to play here. There's no special player or championship to be won so why do players or maybe even some ex-fans care about the Warriors? These guys are losers. They don't know how to win. I don't know how to win either, but there's teams out there that have managed to make the playoffs at least once in 14 seasons. What we got here is general incompetence from top to bottom in thise organization. They should nuke the organization or something and get new ownership who in turn will hire the right people from the get go so we don't spoil the cycle of being a bad franchise and then suddenly becoming good. We're a bad franchise that at best becomes a mediocre team.
