I know he's no longer a Warrior, but for those who like to keep track of former Warriors, Murphy broke his nose for the third time and left the game after just 6 minutes.
Yeah, I saw the box score and figured he must have gotten injured. Too bad, because it seemed like he was playing pretty well for the Pacers. On the other hand, Dun had another typical Dun night...3-11.
You know Dun is going to want to go off for 30 points on us, and the way forwards are having career nights on us, we might just allow it. I say we play man to man because I think Al or Jackson will shut Dun down...
Wow, and they managed to beat the Lakers. Nice. Was Granger guarding Kobe? He seems to have had an off night. Granger is supposed to be a good defender. Ike played pretty well. He had a normal Ike game I think. 3-4 from the field 8 points, two boards, one block, hey he even had two assists. Maybe Murphy just needs to go with the Rip Hamilton look, though he seemed to suffer earlier trying to play with the mask. Hopefully he can return soon.
With Murphy sidelined for a while (I assume he will be), and Ike putting in a nice game at the right time, this might just be the opportunity Ike needs to get some real minutes and show what he can do. He may not be a Warrior, but I'm still rooting for him. He should do well in a halfcourt style if they get the ball to him.

Granger and Darrell Armstrong killed the Lakers in the 4th quarter. Ike had a decent game. They mentioned on the radio the Pacers want to play him in spots where Ike can be successful and build up his confidence.

He brings alot of things to the table. He's a valuable piece. He's a swing player who can basically play all five positions. He can do a little bit of everything. He does all the little things very well. He has a high basketball IQ and makes good decisions when he's on the basketball court. He knows how to get to the spot and be in position. He helps facilitate the offense. He contributes to good ball movement. He understands the plays and where he needs to be at any given time on the court. He has all the intangibles. Unfortunately he is lacking all the tangibles -- you know, actual NBA production.

He's a 6'9-6'10 guard-like player with no footspeed, no lateral quickness, no power game against smaller players. He's physically overpowered by players in his own intended position and anything bigger. He's an overrated shooter with textbook shooting mechanics but often misses the inside of the hoop very badly. It's either going off the side or back iron or front iron like he's trying to aim the ball. He disappears quite a bit because he's not a tone setter, he's the real blamer NOT IKE. The only thing I really appreciated from him was his unselfishness (especially towards feeding the ball inside and passing back to Baron to set him up), and his taking charges. Yeah sure, he flopped a bit which was annoying and the only way a slow footed, weak defender could play any D, but it was something. At least he played help defense even if he was too slow to collapse onto an outside shooter. It was an improvement from when he would absolutely get destroyed off the dribble and pick up all kinds of stupid reach fouls before the 2004 season. But damn he didn't fit anywhere at any positon we tried him at.
Ike tonight: 22 min, 19 pts on 6-10 shooting, 7-7 from the line, 9 boards and a block. Only 1 turnover but 5 PFs.

I think the saddest thing about how bad Dunleavy sucks is the fact that he's still going to go for 30/10 against GS on Monday.

I am not surprised about Ike's game last night. His game vs. Detroit last year showed that he can put up numbers. He will succeed playing along-side Jermaine O'Neal and Jeff Foster (not at the same time of course). The Warriors depended on Ike to rebound and defend a lot, and really that is where he came up short. Now with the opposing team trying to keep O'Neal or Foster (and maybe even Granger and Dunleavy) off the board Ike will probably be freer to come in and pick up the garbage, especially on the offensive end which was where he got 5 of his 9 boards vs. Memphis. Also opponents might be a little more relunctant to double Ike now, when he gets the ball in the post, compared to some games when he was with the Warriors. Also working with Jermaine O'Neal will make him become a better player as well. I would say that Ike and Murphy are in better situations now.
