<div class="quote_poster">Chuck Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">Jameer and Grant Hill for Ray Allen</div> I would rather just sign Rashard Lewis in the offseason and keep Grant and Jameer.
Well, why would the Sonics want Jameer when they already got a young PG in Ridnour. If they did a trade, I'm sure it would have to include Darko.
<div class="quote_poster">Chuck Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">Jameer and Grant Hill for Ray Allen</div> I wouldn't do that if I were the magic. You have eaten so much of Hills contract while he was injured, why would you give it up once its close to expiring for a player who will (like carter) soon be on the decline of his career. Allen is a good scorer, but he has never....i repeat, never shown he can lead a team, let alone to the promised land. Plus Jameer is a nice young talent...not just a throw in, so i'd think long and hard before I parted with him.

I doubt the Magic make any major moves until this summer. From what I've read, Otis isn't going to make any big moves and if we do make a deal before the deadline it will be trading one of our many guards for a big man. Diener or Arroyo are the most likely the go and we'll just have to wait until this offseason to get a big name player. And yes, Ray Allen > Vince Carter, anyday. I don't want Vince PERIOD.
<div class="quote_poster">Carter Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">How could you want Allen over Vince?</div> Don't even get me started on Vince. He's an old player with a past of injuries who is known for having a bad attitude. He disapears at times (remember a couple of weeks ago when all the Nets fans were complaining?) and he seems to settle for jumpshots way too often at this point in his career. He also admitted to giving up on the Raptors which is something I will never let him live down.
He's a better shooter and he's a class act. He doesn't give up on his team. He has also been the hottest guy in the NBA recently. He deserves having a Dwight Howard next to him. Dooling would have to be in the trade though, cause they both hate each other.
<div class="quote_poster">GatorsowntheNCAA Wrote</div><div class="quote_post"> Dooling would have to be in the trade though, cause they both hate each other.</div> Oh yeah, I forgot about that. So we get Ray AND unload Keyon? This is great!

I mean sure Vince has given up on a team before and has had injuries, but come on. This is Vince Carter. He is a far better scorer, rebounder, passer, player than Ray Allen. Ray Ray is a good player and has a better shot than Vince, but honestly would you rather have Allen or Carter?

A not committed VC is better than Ray? No way. Any player that isn't willing to try each and every game despite being paid tons of money is just sickening. We don't need that type of attitude on this team. Ray Allen is one of the best shooters in the league and I'd love to have him stretching the defense for Dwight Howard. Also, if we did trade for Carter, there is no guarentee that he'd sign with us this off-season. The only way I would ever be happy with signing Vince Carter is if we signed him for cheap over the off-season and discussed his role and attitude on this team prior to inking him. Otherwise, I'm not interested.
You can't throw away VC's baggage. A non committed VC avg 15.9 ppg for the Raptors in his last year. His baggage is still there and he was still criticized. I would MUCH rather have Ray Allen then Vince Carter.
Vince Carter sort of reminds me of Terrell Owens in a way, of course without all the off-court issues. IF the Magic do somehow get Vince Carter, his first season will be absolutely terrific. He'll be playing hard, he'll be motivated, and he'll be committed. Then, after the first season, he'll start losing interest, he'll start losing the motivation, and he'll pretty soon fall back into his shell (which means not attacking the basket and shooting jumper after jumper). If the Magic do sign Vince Carter, I'm sure it will be a multi-year deal worth boatloads of money. There is no way Vince Carter will stay motivated, and play at his highest level throughout his contract, so most of the money will turn out to be a waste IMO. Vince came into the league with tons of potential. He had to potential to be one of the best to ever play the game. But look at where he is now. He's terrific when he's motivated, but that's a big IF. Can the Magic get Vince Carter to stay motivated after signing on to a multi-million dollar, long term deal? The past speaks for itself, and it says no. As a fan of both the Lakers and the Sixers, I don't want Vince anywhere near my teams PS: Didn't Carter chuck up 20 three point attempts one game this season?
^ Yea, but he was making them. He really isn't a chucker, if that's what you're suggesting. The problem is he settles for them too often, when he's so much more efficient when he's driving all the way. I understand Magic fans' hesitancy when it comes to Vince Carter. I mean, you're just now recovering from the last complementary superstar that you gave a huge contract to and the focus seems to be more on stability and consistency over overall talent.
<div class="quote_poster">Brian Wrote</div><div class="quote_post"> IF the Magic do somehow get Vince Carter, his first season will be absolutely terrific. If he does then just keep Carter for a year, he will motivated, playing hard, and will be great. Plus a Howard/Carter duo could possibly be title contenders.
You think Vince Carter would sign a one year deal? I'm sure someone will offer him a **** load of money over a longer span.

There's no point in trading grant hill now, i would just sit tight and wait for the offseason. I dont really like the thought of Vince coming to here, i think he's just going to stunt the improvement of Dwight Howard, because Vince just takes was too many shots. Fingers crossed we Gerald Wallace opts out of his contract end of this coming season, he would be a perfect fit. He could share the 1st option role with Dwight and he's also a fantastic defender and know how to shoot the ball. Im hoping we land a Gerald Wallace-type player, that would be amazing. Even Rashard Lewis is a great fit, doesnt take as many shots like Vince. He can shoot from every spot on the court and is lethal from behind the ark, and 3point shooting is something we really need to improve on. I thought JJ could've been our 3point threat but quiet frankly he hasnt done much this season, because of minimal minutes. Anyway, any one of those to players would be perfect pickups for the Magic. Fingers crossed we land someone fantastic in the free agency.
