I decided to toss caution to the wind. These picks may be out there but still somewhat feasible. # team player pos school 1 Texans Bush RB USC 2 Saints Mario W DE NC State 3 Titans Young QB Texas 4 Jets Leinart QB USC 5 Packers Hawk LB Ohio St 6 49ers V. I have made some of the rationale for my WAG's elsewhere today and yesterday but here is more. Buffalo needs help along both lines. They could go with a DT. Young and Leinart going like they did makes this a no brainer IMO. Detroit goes w/ Sims as they converting to a Tampa cover 2 & Sims is ideal for it. Jimmy Williams is Archuleta's replacment & the secondary in St L sucks. Philly finds a great replacment for Runyan who is 32. Miami could go many ways with this depending whose on the board. Manny will learn from Jason Taylor before replacing him in a few years. Manny is the ideal DE/OLB for Nick's Hybrid D and he can block kicks. Parcells & Jerry realize in order to keep TO happy, Drew needs protection. They lost an OT to Tampa in FA. San Diego gets a legit #1 WR & deep threat to make Rivers transition easier. Pats need an LB. Steal of the 1st round. The next Sapp (3 technique tackle) BB is too good to pass on w/ all 3 OT's gone. Current Bengals Center Rich Braham is 33. The G men decide protecting Eli is a wise idea They didn't get Randle El and its a deep draft for TE's. With any luck, they get Klopfenstein from Colorado in round 2. J'ville needs OLB Help. The Jets get C Martin's heir. Seattle lost Manuel to Green Bay & are unsure of Hamlin's return. LenDale is the next Bus.
Pretty decent mock bA. Some comments..... Dallas lost an OT, but he wasn't a starter. Flozell Adams is back from injury on the left size, and it isn't time for a replacement. My guess is that Dallas will trade down from there, but if not, my money is on a SOLB. I'm kind of hoping for Carpenter. Greenway is a good LB that may well drop out of the first round. I like Chad and have watched him play a lot of games, but there are a lot of LB or DE/LB tweeners that would work well in a 3-4. Many teams think Greenway would fit better into a 4-3, but in the second half of the draft, where the linebackers will start to fall, there are a lot of 3-4 defenses looking for a LB. I wouldn't be surprised to see Greenway slip, through no fault of his own. He didn't have the glory stats at the Combine that everyone seems enamored with for some reason. Bunkley might fall if the draft goes like this. He's worth it to go higher, but its a function of who needs what and what is available. Picks #2-#5 are going to dictate how the rest of the first round goes until it levels out around #20-#25.
The mock draft on ESPN dot com has Miami taking Lawson. Their rationale is the same as mine. LOL? Plagarism in Bristol???
Today's dradt special on TV has them taking Donte Whitmer which I could live with. I really don't think Miami can go wrong. p.s. After listening to Spielman, I am so glad Nick kicked him to the curb.
