...That is how much Bush is asking Congress to allow him to spend, pumping billions of dollars into the War in Iraq...he's f'n crazy if he thinks Congress will pass this.

If the computer I was on (in the library) wasn't so slow, I'd post the article.

The US is already one of the worst countries in dept along with France. They can't afford to put this much money into any effort, period.

They can just print more money and increase the countries debt. Japan and China already own a majority of our debt. Japan at $644B and China is probably close to $1 Trillion by now. If either China or Japan decides to start selling off our debt or stop purchasing Treasury securities, the US economy is going to go in the crapper.

That's the proposed budget for the entire year. The budget for the defense dept is $481 mill.

Didn't he just request an additional $245Billion for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan?

That's correct. The $245 billion is in addition to the $481.1 billion defense expense for this year.

$93 billion for supplemental expense (Haliburton etc..)
    $145 billion for Iraq/Afganistan

    <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">
The proposed basic budget for the Defense Department is $481.1 billion, a 62 percent increase over 2001, Mr. Bush’s first year as president, and an increase of $49 billion over what Congress provided for this fiscal year. But the figure does not include more than $93 billion in supplemental money in this fiscal year and about $145 billion in the next fiscal year for the Iraq and Afghanistan campaigns.

Spending approx 700 billion out of 2.9 trillion for military is about one fourths the total budget. Which isn't all that bad as it looks.

Bush is a friggin asshole! Did you guys notice that bills and stuff are getting pricier and all that money is going to what so called "War" in Iraq. The guy is just wasting people's money for no reason. I still don't see the point of us in Iraq. Pointless situation. This guy is asking for trillions of dollars over a so called War.

Even though I hate Bush, he is screwed every which way. If he pulls out now everyone will grill him because he spent so much money for nothing. He is trying to leave a good legacy for the text books of the future....I see no way this could be spun in a positive way for him. Like I said before, if he pulls out, it shows weakness, and he is trying to project an image of power, when really he is just streching everything very thin. He painted himself into a corner, and he has no way of getting out.

We can't possibly pull out of Iraq with all the sh*t we've already caused.

    I wish I had $2.9 Trillion...

Instead of the $480 Billion for wars he shouldnt be fighting anyway, why not give that to the millions of starving people in Africa, I mean he seems to "care" so much about other countries affairs...

Yeh, China and Japan have a huge surplus on their balance of payments. The US Dollar is already getting pretty crap, they are going to have to reduce it even more if their net money flow is negative.
