I was reading up on the Lakers over at LG and I came across a thread that recapped a Kupcake interview, and he stated that in practice, Kwame Brown is absolutely deadly from midrange. I remember when Washington drafted him, the Washington post raved about his ability to hit the midrange jumper. He seems to have a case of Sashaitis, he can perform in practice, but when it comes to game time, his midrange game disappears. If he could find his midrange game, we could start him at the 4 and Bynum at the 5. I remember back in Washington, he would use his quickness to absolutely kill people, he'd start on the elbow of the paint and drive right by them for the dunk/layup. God, remebering his offensive potential in Washington is absolutely depressing, especially knowing that an all-time great absolutely shredded his confidence. C'mon Kwame, find that midrange jumper during the game!
Yeah I remember he went head to head with Tyson Chandler during a draft workout and destroyed Tyson, because of his face up ability on offense. It was one of the reasons he was drafted #1 by the Wizards. The problem is Kwame hasn't picked up the offense, and the PF role within the Triangle has a lot more responsibility than the Center does. The Center position is the easiest to learn, which is why Kwame looked great once Mihm went down last season. Hopefully Kwame can master the position by next season. A frontcourt with Odom-Kwame-Bynum would be nasty for other teams to deal handle.
I'd love to see this mid range game come out from Kwame. If he could do that and figure out the PF's role in the Tri, we'd be a deadly team. Our frontcourt would be beyond long and tall, and we'd be able to shift Odom to the three, which I think is more natural to him, and we'd get to keep Bynum in the lineup, who has improved by leaps and bounds this year and is only going to get better as the season progresses.
Hopefully Kwame will be working on his offensive game this offseason, since he's decent / pretty good on the defensive side.
They used to train together and Kwame would shred O'neal. Kwame needs to get on the court and stay healthy, first of all. After that, he needss to regain his shooting touch, if he does that, he could be a solid role player. He's already above average on defense, if he can become an above average offensive player, he could still save face.
I haven't seen Kwame much in a Lakers uniform, mostly because of injuries, but what do you guys have to say about his defense and the level it's at?

He just tends to get into foul trouble in bunches. I'd love to see the mid-range jumper on a consistent basis as well.
Like Phil Jackson said Kwame is a two year project, hopefully he'll reach his potential after this year and brings out the mid range game.
