Why? Payton is one of my favorite players to watch. They said he got suspended for "talking back to an official". If that's so, then President Stern needs to be impeached. Since when do players get suspended for "talking back to an official". At that a future hall of famer and NBA legend in Payton. What exactly happened?

all i know is that he got two technicals, ejected from the game (obviously), and then continued to yell (possibly swear) at the ref. thats what i heard, but im not positive that that is exactly what happened.

Obviously you haven't been paying attention.

Regardless, if Payton was verbally abusing the refs then he deserves a suspension. Once a ref reprimands you all you can do is either apologize or just pretend it didn't happen. Losing your composure is the last thing you want to do.

Payton was suspended one game without pay today for talking back to an official who ejected him during a win over the Milwaukee Bucks on Saturday.

Payton will serve the suspension tonight when Miami hosts Charlotte.

The incident occurred late in the second quarter on Saturday, when Payton, starting in place of the injured Jason Williams, was ejected by official Mark Davis for arguing a call. Before leaving the floor, Payton leaned in close and said something to Davis. The Heat won the game 117-to-98.</div>

chris quinn got to start at point in place of payton (and j-will, whos hurt) and he did pretty well for his first career start. he had 14 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists. does anyone else think that this well get quinn some more playing time, or that he now at least deserves more?

The league, and late how Stern has run it. It shouldn't surprise anyone in the least that a player would be suspended for talking back to a ref.
