<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">CLEVELAND -- It was late in the game Sunday and the ball went out of bounds under the Pistons' basket. Cavaliers public address announcer Olivier Sedra yelled, "D-E-E-TROIT TURN-OVER." Three things were wrong with that. One, it wasn't a turnover. Two, the Cavaliers were trailing by 10 points and were about to be beaten soundly on their home floor. Three, it was a blatant rip-off of Pistons announcer John Mason. "Man, I told him to get your own material," Chauncey Billups said. "That was terrible." Pistons trainer Mike Abdenour, Billups and Rasheed Wallace all walked over to have their say to Sedra. "All he said was, 'I am just doing my job,' " said Wallace, imitating Sedra's deep voice. "I told him to stop stealing somebody else's material. I told him he was making his fame off other people's lines. That's garbage." That wasn't the only odd thing that happened during the Pistons' 90-78 win. Referee Steve Javie ejected a courtside fan in the third quarter. The fan was badgering all three officials for what he, and most of the Cavaliers players, thought were some missed calls on LeBron James. Turns out, the ejected fan was a member of James' entourage. He was, in fact, his driver</div> Source
Wow, Piston players aren't very smart are they? He was more likely than not making fun of the Palace. To be honest, they have the most retarded announcer I've ever seen. He's like a little kid, and so are the fans. I'm ashamed of Toronto fans; I can't imagine how I'd live if I was a Detroit supporter. I mean, ffs, it's obvious a play on their awful announcer, and they can't even recognize it, they think he's "stealing material", just wow. They can't even realize when their own intelligence is being sullied.

He is a big reason why Piston games are always a sell out. He gets people to want to comeback for more. You don't know how you would live If you were a Detroit supporter? how about actually supporting a winning team than has made the conference finals the last 4 seasons in that time got to the finals twice and won the title in 04...You would be a pretty happy person. What made the Cavs announcer a bigger idiot was that It wasn't even a freaking turnover.
Does it really matter? I mean what's the point complaining about it and accusing him of stealing material, of all things, when it was clear he was making fun of him. It just seems like the Pistons are always trying to find some sort of slight or offense to get motivated about, when there never really is anything there.

They have similar music themes when the players come out, the lighting is almost the same when they introduce the players e.t.c. Overall they have tried to steal the Pistons ideas. They have also in the past stolen the Pistons logan heading into each season. This incident is one of many that the Cavs have pulled off.

If he said something like "Cava-lieeers Baaasket-baaall" then it would make sense, but it's so obvious that he was making fun of the Pistons' announcer. I mean, it's such a trivial thing, but it's kind of typical that Pistons players would make a big deal about it.

The Detroit fans have proved how intelligent they are, they complete ass's. I mean, Ron Artest anyone? I mean, there is a fine line between supporting your team and being a jackass, and I hate to say Piston fans have done nothing through their actions to disprove the latter. I have absolutely nothing against the Pistons or their fans. The team plays great basketball. It's just that they've proven to be the worst crowd in the NBA. Can you really think of a worse crowd? I don't have anything against you, or any other poster on this forums. It's just like how I hate a lot of Toronto fans. They just have no idea about basketball, and decide to be jackasses and boo everyone who they don't like, or isn't on their team. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">You don't know how you would live If you were a Detroit supporter? how about actually supporting a winning team than has made the conference finals the last 4 seasons in that time got to the finals twice and won the title in 04...You would be a pretty happy person. </div> I wouldn't be a Piston fan if you paid me. Why? Because of the other fans. See the above two paragraphs for more reference. It sucks too, because I really love how they play basketball. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">What made the Cavs announcer a bigger idiot was that It wasn't even a freaking turnover.</div> Never said he wasn't an idiot. They just support their team throughout and always make their voices heard. Which is what real fans do. Wow mentioning the Ron Artest incident as If that kind of stuff happens all the time. You are basically calling all Piston fans jackasses. When It was one idiot fan who started the whole brawl off. There are believe or not just as many idiot fans around the league. Take It from someone who has been to many NBA games around the country. There are alot worse things being said at other games than there are at Piston games. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">I have absolutely nothing against the Pistons or their fans. Just because the Pistons fans make alot of noise and make certain comments doesn't make them bad. Since when do Piston fans boo players for no reason? It never happens. Don't know where you got that from. If Piston fans boo other players, there is a damn good reason for It. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Never said he wasn't an idiot. Bottom line. Yeah he isn't going to use It when the Pistons aren't playing as they wouldn't hear It. My point is the Cavs have copied the Pistons alot lately and It's not down to just taking the piss either. Everything they are trying to build is like the Pistons. Which is annoying.

If "supporting their team" means they taunt the other team, I think you have a serious misconception on what the word "support" means. And if you think by "making their voices heard" means heckling the other team...well, whatever makes you happy. Throwing stuff at players happens all the time? Sorry, I must be stupid, I didn't notice. After Artest was instigated to go into the crowed, and punch the dude, the other fans starting throwing all sorts of stuff, including chairs and glass bottles. So saying that you have "one stupid fan", is rather baseless imo. I don't care what kind of person you are, throwing something potentially dangerous like chairs and glass is retarded. And it wasn't the one person who was throwing stuff, many other fans were. When the players walked off the court and into the locker rooms, they were throwing their drinks on them as they walked by the fans. I hear what you're saying about stupid fans, but what I'm trying to say is that Detroit is the worst, and if you ask almost any player I think they'd agree with me. Yes, I am calling the majority of Piston fans jackasses, just like I think the majority of Raptors fans are jackasses. Because paying the price for a ticket, and buying jerseys, and attending games, gives you no indulgences to start acting like a child. I'm not saying that the crowd should all be in suits and not make a sound, but they just act retarded. It especially ticks me off because a lot of the people have no clue about basketball, and they're yelling at the refs from the crowd. Simply because a call went against their hometown team. As for you traveling across the country; can you exactly tell me what other fans are doing worse? <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">So one inccident involving Ron Artest makes them a bad crowd? as I mentioned I have seen far worse at other arenas around the NBA. Yes, making inappropriate comments and yelling at the officials, and booing the players excessively does make them a bad crowd. And I seriously started chuckling in real life about your comments about them not booing other players, seriously, I actually lol'd. I just now realized how pointless it is to continue this discussion. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Wether he was just making fun or not, he was copying the Pistons trademark announcer. What he says is right imo, but he's being excessive himself, especially the last sentence about the gun which I think is retarded and will never happen. http://nbahoopsonline.com/Articles/2004-05/worstfans.html
Detroit fans do have a reputation as being rather hostile and rude. I remember in the playoff series between Toronto and Detroit (back in 2002, I think), there were a lot of cases of people making the trip over, who were abused both verbally and physically throughout the game. Not that I really care. That wasn't my point, more rafy's.
Guys, this is for discussion about the Cavs announcer using Pistons announcer material, not "how bad" our fans are. Anymore un related posts will be deleted.
Sorry, but I have to mention the fact that the Detriot crowed BOOED the Canadian national anthem when the Raptors faced the Pistons in the first round in 2002. That, along with the Ron Artst situation, doesn't really help your case, AllNet.
