ADEL (AP) - Former Iowa basketball player Pierre Pierce will have to wait a few more weeks before he learns if he can go to California to try out for the Golden State Warriors.

A judge has asked his attorney for more information about Pierce's treatment in a sex offender program.

Pierce was released from prison last fall after serving almost a year for assaulting his ex-girlfriend in West Des Moines.

In a request filed last month in Dallas County District Court, his attorney said Pierce has complied with all terms of his probation and should be allowed to pursue a career as a professional basketball player.

Judge Gregory Hulse has asked the attorney to submit the additional information by Friday, with a decision coming in a week or two.</div>

Pierre Pierce was a flat out baller in college. He's made several mistakes that cost him a shot at the NBA. He would have been a lottery pick if he didn't get in trouble with the law.

Great more guards... What is new?

Maybe he's our potential Don Nelson power forward.

Even with his past, I'd love to see him get a shot. I've heard nothing but good about him.

Well, I think he'd be like getting another first round pick. Might be worth a shot since Dajaun Wagner couldn't continue. Heck. I'm pretty desperate to see some potentially cheaper talent play like a natural two. we aren't getting it at any of the expensive guards or from our slow combo guards in the past.

I'm actually the unoffical president of the Pierre Pierce fan club. [IMG]

(Seriously though, he used to be one of my favorite players when he played at Iowa.)

I know the guy's a complete bonehead and has been given a million chances to reform, but he's one of the best players I've ever seen play the game --- just insane natural talent. No one is quicker than him with the ball, at least, that was the case when he was at Iowa. I truly thought he'd be a star in the league, the next A.I., or someone along those lines.

It's not really his game that's the question but rather his behavior, which you'd hope would be in line after having to go to prison. If that doesn't scare a man straight, I don't know what would.

This seems pretty intresting. I would give this guy a try, but that also means we have two players with legal problems. (SJax and Pierce)

Pierre Pierce sounds like a basketball talent, but that second sex abuse incident in 2005 gives me pause. The guy tried to get sex from his ex girl friend with a kitchen knife. What's the guy's line? Gee that was a great date, I'd like to kiss you good night and give you this kitchen knife. Start strippin' beotch or that's your *ss.

He and SJax would make two guys that have potential legal problems if they get in trouble outside the game. Not only that there's all the temptations and offers that come with being in the NBA.

Oh and the Pacers must still be trying to outdo the Warriors in this area, too, as they have three guys in trouble including McLeod in a night club ruckus.

Wow, looking at his stats he was very good at Iowa. In his sophomore year (last year he played) he averages 17.8 ppg, 5.2 rpg, 4.2 apg, 4.2 TOpg, 2.5 spg, .5 bpg, on 48% FGs. He was a terrible FT shooter back then at 53% but you would hope hes improved in that aspect by now. Judging purely from the stats he seems like a poor man's Dwayne Wade, I would assume he gets to the hoop a lot with the high FG% and low 3 pt %, he can rebound fairly well and got a good amount of assists (and a good amount of turnovers), also got a lot of steals and .5 blocks per game is pretty good for a guy listed at 6'4.

I'd love to give him a shot, Pietrus and Barnes are basically playing themselves out of big contracts in the offseason, this kid definitely has talent and hopefully hes learned his lesson. He'd be a senior in college right now, so hes still pretty young.
