Lakers on the decline

Who gets the best ratings in NBA? the Lakers do. So if you have the Lakers in the Finals against any team in the League everyone makes money.

As for us fans its just Lakers pride and the fact that we have the best player in the NBA that's talent its being wasted playing a long a bunch of young guys.

We dont panic we just have high expectations about our team because the Lakers have been the best Franchise in NBA history. Ever since Jerry West.

About the Raptors, they have been a loosing team ever since the expanded into the league. Have they even won a playoff series ever?

No, not everyone wants to see the Lakers in the Finals. I'm sure they'd be entertained at the though of Kobe Bryant in the Finals, but if you really think the national media and the rest of NBA fans really care about the likes of Smush Parker, Luke Walton and Kwame Brown being in the Finals, you're kidding yourself.

At this point, the only reason the Lakers get high ratings is because of Kobe Bryant's game and his ability to lead his team.

It's one thing to have pride, it's another to think of other team's GMs as a bunch of morons by proposing ridiculous trades such as "Mihm & Mckie for Ron Artest".

It's okay to have high expectations, but atleast keep things in perspective. You're not going to win every game, especially with a team that's still young like the Lakers are. There are going to be rough patches in the season; as long as the Lakers make it into the playoffs and grab the highest seed they can achieve (and no, that's not the first seed), you should be happy.

As for the Lakers being the "best franchise in NBA history", as far as I know, the Boston Celtics have 3 more championships than the Lakers do.

Yes, they've had 3 playoff berths (00, 01, 02) and are heading towards another one this year. Step your knowledge up before you make yourself look like you don't know what you're talking about again.

Outside of LA, most people are either bandwagon Laker fans or are Kobe fans. Even during thier three-peat, they were bandwaggoned to the max by people outside of LA, and when Shaq left and the dynasty was dismantled, the Lakers' fanbase outside of Cali was reduced to just Kobe fans because everyone knew they had completely fallen off from contending.

What I meant by being best Franchise is by making the NBA Finals 23 times since 1960. In 47 years thats a 49% meaning that the lakers have an avarage of making the finals every other year. So this is why we have high expectations and why the Lakers are the best NBA franchise. Step up your knowledge if you really want to rebutal my comments. A true fan, enjoys winning and gets furious when they loose. Your just a poser. Pick a team and learn to be a fan.

I'll admit I'm a Kobe fan, he is even the reason I started watching the NBA. It is much deeper than that though. Over the years when I looked at the Laker history, I've loved all their players. Kareem, Magic, West, and Wilt. The organization also seems very intriguing. Even their soap opera type drama during the Kobe-Shaq duo.

As such I'm a fan of the team, not JUST Kobe.

Have they even won a playoff series ever?" How do you expect someone to respond? Yes, the Raptors did make the playoffs in 00, 01, and 02 as stated by Karma. They went to the Eastern Conference Finals in 2001, and loss to the Philadelphia 76ers, of whom we went on to face in the Finals.

Saying the Raptors should move out of Canada is as ignorant as anyone can get. The Raptors have a lot of loyal fans in Canada (just look at the Raptors forum). They are one of the hottest teams in the Eastern Conference, and are about to make the playoffs with young star Chris Bosh.

Also, how does Karma's statements make him a bandwagon fan? It's completely true. Anytime a team has success, people just on the bandwagon, and leave when they are struggling. Just look at the Clippers. Last season, out of nowhere, billions of so called "die-hard Clipper" fans appeared out of nowhere, only to disappear out of site this season

Buddy, I hope you know that the Raptors have one of the highest attendance records in the league. Do you even know how strong the fanbase for the Raptors in Toronto is? Atleast you realize your own ignorance, because everyone else who read that comment probably thinks you really lack knowledge when it comes to the NBA.

Please read what I actually posted instead of jumping to conclusions. I've been watching basketball since '97, but I was initially drawn into the Lakers because of Kobe, and that was before they won any championships in the new millenium. Furthermore, the fact that I was a Laker fan even when they were 34-48 should tell you something. I don't catch Lakers games as often as I'd like to, but I still love cheering for them.

Pablo23, you are making a fool of yourself. Why would you even suggest trading Mckie and MIhm for Artest? Would you trade Kobe for Kenyon Martin and Dermarr Johnson?

The NBA would be better off without the Raptors? Either you are 8 years old (which is possible because you're writing reflects it) or you are highly uneducated, because the Raptors are one of the biggest markets in the NBA-they have an entire country behind them. They are one of the brightest franchises in the league right now and are playing great basketball. They beat your Lakers twice this year.

You bring up all those stats on the Lakers' franshise (which you obviously had to look up to try and sound smart), and its true that the Lakers (along with the Celtics) are a top 2 franchise in this league's history. BUt for every dynasty you have, you have to go through a rebuilding period. The Lakers sucked before Magic came along, and once showtime was broken up and before Kobe and Shaq came along, they were brutal. Now the Kobe/Shaq dynasty has been broken up, and they should consider themselves fortunate to still be playoff contendersthe past 3 years.

Franchises all have to rebuild at some point. Deal with it and quit whining. GM's like Kupchack understand this and know what they are doing. Instead of going through stupid quick fix trade scenarios that may get you to the WCF finals one year and screw your cap situation for years to come are stupid. Count yourself lucky that you have a GM who understands this and is willing to build for 2-3 years in the future.

I think that's what some Laker fans don't seem to understand. It's only been 2 or so years since the Lakers have started rebuilding, and people expect them to beat every single team on a 8 game road trip? The Lakers are not a powerhouse team (like the Mavs), but they are ahead of everyone's expectations right now. Thier season will even out once again as soon as the road trip is over. Just have faith and patience.

 

The Lakers have gone 4-9 since January 18th. Not good. Let's see if they can get back on track with a home game.

Maybe Lamar's just rusty? I don't know, but before he got injured he was playing great. He was aggressive on offense, running the triangle, and was a great compliment to Kobe Bryant. I don't know what's happened to him ever since the injury, but he's starting to revert back into his shell
