<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">You bring up all those stats on the Lakers' franshise (which you obviously had to look up to try and sound smart), and its true that the Lakers (along with the Celtics) are a top 2 franchise in this league's history. </div> I don't mean to sound smart but I do try to make smart comments. I just think that if you are going to refute comments your have to be objective not subjective like some of you here. If I mispell tt just because I type fast and don't pay attention to my typing. Going back to basketball, about Lamar I've already given up on him. The reason you would trade for Chris and McKie is because they are expiring contracts. Trades are not always about getting an exchange for all star or same value in players but there is also financial reasons involved.
Lakers dropped to 10-10 without Kwame Brown now. I honestly, didn't think the team would miss him this much, but our size is overrated because our big men are soft. The only player on the inside playing with any heart is Turiaf. Did you see Bynum give up a layup and the foul on Daniel Gibson today? Bynum needs to stand his ground and make a guard pay for coming into the paint. I'm not asking for him to hurt Gibson, but knock his ass to the hardwood and make him earn those two points. Don't do a half ass attempt at a shot block and fade out of the play. That play really pissed me off. Lamar Odom is out of shape and lacks the confidence he had prior to the injury. I think the All-Star break will benefit him the most, and the Lakers can get together for some much needed soul searching. Right now this team is playing terrible basketball, especially on the defensive side of the ball. The Lakers have a 4 game homestand coming up, and we just got past the toughest part of our schedule. A little disappointing to come away with a 3-5 road trip record, but the team is still 9 games above .500 and right where we want to be in playoff seedings. The Lakers can handle Utah or San Antonio in the first round.
I kind of get the feeling that the only time Odom fully applies himself is when he is the number one option. He had a great year playing for Miami, but his career with the Clippers and Lakers (where he's had to either share the load or compliment someone else) has been too inconsistent.
Shape your right we have no inside presence. Bynum does not even try to contest players. Odom is 6'11 and never blocks a player. I dont understand. We do need Kwame and the reason why we are struggling is because Bynum is not fit to play so many minutes. I did not see Odom take shots thruout the whole 4th quater but takes a whole grip desperation shots in the end. I'm sick of Odumb. We also miss Luke.
Frustration is to be expected from this team. They had been extremely inconsistent. At time, they played like a top contender team, and at time they played like crap. What we can all expect is the Lakers are extremely dangerous. Nobody know how good we are, so in the playoff, I think we're going to surprise a lot of teams.
I never thought I'd say this, but I'm missing Butterfingers Brown. It's evident that his presence on the defensive end is needed for us to have consistency.
I'm really starting to think about that Odom trade... Maybe we could mix Odom and some other guys and maybe a draft pick to get a really good PF/C.
Don't forget that last season Odom was the same until the All Star break. After the All Star break, he came back better and averaged something along the lines of 18/10/5 with alot more consistency than before.
Well, yes. But what if he stays like this all season long ? We really need Odom and all the other guys back to form. Fortunatelly, it's PLENTY of time left until the postseason, I hope we will end the regular season with a normal seed, we have to get past the 1st round this season. WCF finals would be sweet, but with the Mavs and the Suns leading the West, I don't see this happening. I'm not putting all the sh*t on Odom's shoulders, though. I think that Kobe needs to step up with his scoring. At the moment, we really need the 2005/06 35.PPG Kobe Bryant back. We can lose games but we won't lose our hope, Lakers for life !
Are you guys seriously still defending Odom? We've seen his inconsistent play since we've acquired him, he's not going to change. Why is that so hard to realize? The guy is a joke, someone with his abilities should be damn near unguardable, but he stays out on the perimeter and shoots stupid shots and plays uninspired ball.
Well, I wouldn't say that he is a pointless player. But I still think that atm if we would add some expiring contracts and maybe a draft pick we could get a good player for him. We need a consistent and solid player next to Kobe if we wan't to do anything serious in the playoffs. What do you think about Kirilenko, will he be the same player who he was last season ? We need an all-around player and Kirilenko is a good rebounder, great defender, can score and do it all. But he isn't in his prime at all at the moment. What do you guys think ?
I'd take Kirilenko over Odom, any day. The guy is a beast, although I'm concerned with his down season. Would I trade for him though? Probably not. If that's the case, I don't think, he makes that much of a difference on this team than Odom does. All I'm saying is that after...2 and half years with Odom in this triangle offense, I'm sick of it. We have all given him more than enough time and hope to become consistent. He can't play solid basketball if he isn't the featured option (LAC, LAL) compared to when he is the featured player (MIA). I really wish there was a package that could aquire Gasol...if we could keep Odom in that deal...great, I think he could actually be a solid third option. At least we wouldn't have to worry about the guy having to score, because we know we'd get a solid 20 from Gasol...something Odom will never be able to give us. Is it possible to get Gasol without Odom? I doubt it...therefore, give him up.
Yeah, Gasol would problably be the part that LA is missing, but I still believe that AK can be the guy again who he was last season. 15.3 PPG, 8 RPG, 4.3 APG, 1.5 SPG and 3.2 BPG is totally SICK.
Does Odom look unhappy to anyone else? He looks miserable on the court, which is very understandable after what he went through, but if it's going to keep impairing his play, the staff needs to sit down with him and tell him to take some personal time, because it's hurting the team. We played so much better without him, when everybody thought we were going to struggle. We were money without Odom and I think we can afford to give him some more time. Luke is going to be out another week. God, I miss Kwame.
You were just few momens ago furius at Odom, now you're saying calmly that we should give him some time. I don't understand you anymore, Mamba.
No, I'm still very sick of him. I'm asking if anybody else has noticed how lazy he's looked out there. Maybe we should tell him to take some time off because he's hurting the team more than he is helping the team. 3-7 with him back is disgusting, especially when he's supposed to make a positive difference on the team, not a negative one. I'd trade him in a heartbeat still, if we could get a good deal for him. Unfortunately, I think that's impossible now. His value is lower than it ever has been.
