I agree that the refs didn't lose us this game, but to say we should be happy to just stay close is stupid. You try and win every game, and their is no solace in "coming close". To me, it seemed like the Pistons were getting a lot of calls in the 4th quarter that sucked the momentum out of the Raps, and Sheed should have definitely been ejected for his outbursts after his warranted offensive foul call. Its just annoying when the Pistons bitch about every single call and seem to eventually wear down the will of the refs. Everybody knows the Pistons are a physical team, and they wouldn't be able to establish this reputation without the help of the refs. Bosh wasn't his usual aggressive self late in today's game, maybe because he couldn't buy a call when he was being aggressive earlier on.
My Take: Bosh played 40 minutes yesterday ... and again today. On top of that he was put in a very physical role guarding Wallace in the post. Ya he didn't look so great .. he was probably tired as hell. I don't consider bosh a defensive powerhouse or anything like that. I'm usually critical when he gets abused on the block ... but today I'll definitely give him the free pass (forgive me Deception). Anyways, with all the negativity lately I have throw out a positive comment somewhere. Although Bargnani isn't particularly effective right now, I like how he's adding different looks to his game. He's taking guys off the bounce more often and taking shots from different areas of the court. I feel a lot more positive about this than when he was going 3-5 from behind the arc with little other contribution. I was afraid he'd get stereotyped into being a zone buster / guy who stretches the defense with little other use. That last three pointer he made was just insane, I can't get over some of these long distance shots he makes .. they look so sloppy and they find the net easily.
For the most part, the calls went both ways.... but the thing that really ticked me off about the reffing, imo, is that they gave into Sheed's incessant b!tching and were too scared to blow the whistle whenever Bosh took the ball at him and drew contact. Bosh usually gets those calls and it was apparent that the refs were a little too hesitant to call them tonight. That being said, I wouldn't blame this loss on the refs. Bosh still should have been more aggressive but the combination of Sheed's D and fatigue was too much for him to handle. Although Ford had a very solid game, he still needs to do a better job taking care of the ball (especially in crunch time). But I think we can take more positives than negatives from this game. We were able to make a game out of it considering: - we played the previous night - we were facing the best team in the east - on the road - Sheed had an unusually huge offensive game - Bosh struggled Given those things and the fact that we only lost by 6, I'd say it was a pretty decent game despite the loss. btw, that Joey Graham dunk had me jumping outta my seat!
Not really an unexpected result. Bosh was due for a bad game. By my account, the last time he had such a bad game was 16 games ago against NJ. I'll take one bad game out of 16 any day. Like others have said, we were leading for the whole first half and were competitive for the whole game against the best team in the Eastern Conference in their home arena. Factor in Bosh's struggles and I'm not too upset over this. We still have a little ways to go to compete against teams like Detroit but the gap is decreasing. We've shown that we can play and stay competitive with the best in Detroit, Dallas and Phoenix, we have beat very good teams in Washington (twice), Cleveland and the Lakers and playoff teams in Orlando (twice) and the LA Clippers (twice).

You played last night, Pistons were rested, Pistons are one of the best teams in the NBA and a better team than the Raptors. So showing you can even compete with the Pistons was good for Toronto. The Pistons have pretty much owned the Raptors over the years. The change in the rules has hurt the Pistons. They aren't allowed to be as physical as they used to be which is a real shame. You should be happy about that considering all the crap Pistons get with the refs. Bosh struggled because most stars do against the Pistons. You only have to look at the stats of superstars who have played the Pistons this season. Yeah part of Bosh struggling was down to him but most of It was down to the Pistons strong defense.
I don't blame the refs in the slightest. We should have won that game yesterday imo. I just find it drop dead hilarious that Piston fans complain about Wade whining. When that was probably the most horrific case of whining I've ever seen. As a championship caliber team like the Pistons, they should just stick to playing the game. Every time I read an AllNet post I chuckle.

They do, alot of times in the past they have a case. However yeah they moan alot. It's part of their emotion they play with. It carries on from the calls or lack there of. Moaning about what Wade gets and the Piston players get is like night and day. Completely not comparable. You also act like It's just Piston fans who have complained about Wade. Newsflash everyone hates the phantom calls he gets. When everyone feels the same way you have to realise, they might just have a point.

But why square the blame on his shoulders? This game should be case and point of how bad things are. The Pistons whine a lot more than Wade, and if they just changed their mindset they'd get away with a lot more than they are now. If their whole team started playing like Wade, the entire league would be complaining a bout them. It wouldn't be about Wade anymore it would be about the Pistons. So; singling out Wade just because he's able to manipulate the game so he gets calls is just...wow. The Pistons are obviously trying to swing things in their favor, consistently complaining about phantom calls that they didn't get. So, maybe they should take a page out of Wade's book; instead of crying, moaning and yelling at the refs. It's very easy to compare, Wade plays with his head. Sheed doesn't. Simple as that. Wade try's to draw contact and he tries to get the call, Sheed just complains about it and chucks three's.

Yeah I was annoyed about what Wade complained about one time but apart from that I don't really care too much If Wade moans about calls. All players do It. Obviously Wade doesn't do It that often. There are far many other players who whine about calls than Wade does. Oh and no It isn't easy to compare. Why are you comparing who whines more? I'm talking about who gets fouls called. Yeah Sheed spends alot of time on the three-point arc but he still doesn't get the calls when defending the post. Last night was a good example why Sheed moans Sheed shouts woo!! throws the ball up in the air and gets a T meanwhile Mitchell was all in the refs face in the 3rd but no T, TJ Ford was called for an offensive foul and he slams the ball to the ground but no T there either. There are double standards when It comes to Sheed and It's no wonder he is sick of It. Sheed is called for bogus calls and T's when far other players get away with anything and nothing is done about It.
The thing with Sheed is he had it building up the entire game. The same thing happened to Sam Cassell when we played the Clippers. They whine throughout the entire game and it builds up until the refs just give them a tech for the slightest sign of disrespect. I mean, you could compare those individual incidents, but I think it makes more sense to see how they both conducted themselves through the course of the entire game. He clearly deserved a technical at some point, in fact I think he was lucky to only have one.
I just caught a few glimpses of the game from behind the bar tonight. Final Score is impressive given the fact that it was a back to back game. Although one criticism i would add is the Raptors were in leading or tied most of the game at some point you have to dig in and get the win. two brutal missed calls in the 4th Quarter: first was the charge on tj ford (should have been a block) and second was when ford got called on the loose ball foul for impeding chauncey billups progress, it was a weak call for a variety of reason 1 being that raptors were gonna get the ball back regardless, 2 nba players get away with that all the time its like a box out and 3 It should have been a reach in foul on Billups first when he poked the ball loose. For the ref blow his whistle at that crucial point in the game was frustrating. Best part of Bargnani's game is his confidence. If there is one theme in NBA superstars it's they're unabashed self confidence. For him to want to take those 3's and make those 3 in the fourth quater, in a hostile environment with the game on the line bodes well for his future. The kid's got a superstars mentality and now he just has to put the pieces together. Lastly, TJ Ford has to be the quickest guard in Raptors History. He can break down his man off the dribble when ever he wants its just a matter of making better decisions.

I can't say I agree because I have no idea what you're talking about. Like Chutney said, Sheed consistently heckles the ref. Throughout the entire game you'll see him next to the ref talking about something. And often times talking is more of yelling. He's ALWAYS complaining. The only guy that complains more in the entire league is Sam Cassel. Maybe, if he'd stop acting like a girl and start playing the game, he wouldn't get so many techs. I agree with you, there are double standards when it comes to Sheed; but it's entirely his fault. If he'd start playing with his head and stop PMS'ing he'd be a lot more effective. From the way he's acted and acting, I'd eject him every game. And I'm shocked he wasn't ejected last game. As far as Smitch not getting T'd up, things are very differently for coaches. You really need to cross a line as a coach, like when Rick Carlisle wouldn't shut up, and just kept yelling. You can see PJax and Pops yelling at the refs all the time. It's very different for coaches. T.J. didn't get T'd up because a lot of guys do that. He was following the ref around telling him that he was blind like Sheed, he just got frustrated and slammed the ball. He's not the first one to do it and get away with it. Sheed deserves every bit of ill-treatment from the refs. I wouldn't take his crap if I was a ref. Then again, I wouldn't take a lot of things from a lot of players. If Sheed wanted to something about it, all he'd have to do is stop acting like a child. And I'm positive he'll start getting treated better.

Many times he gets clean blocks and is called for bad calls. Which really sets him off. I understand that the way Sheed acts likely gets the refs wilded up and want to call fouls just for the hell out It. Does that make It right? no is the answer. You aren't going to change Sheed and the way he looks at games and in life in general. It's part of his character and his emotion he displays on the court. As a Piston fan It is frustrating at times as one more T and he will get suspended every time he gets a T which could hurt us in the long run. However you can't help but love his emotion that he displays on the floor. Thats when he is at his best. Yes It appears different for coaches but It shouldn't be. Thats my whole point. There are double standards in the game today when that is truely unfair. If there are fouls you call them. If someone goes overboard then a T is the right thing to do. However If the reactions don't deserve a T don't give the player one. Sadly these double standards will always be around and most likely alot of fouls are called on who the player is, not If It's actually a foul or not.

I misunderstood what you said about the post, and you're right. But it's not only with Sheed, I've seen lots of players get clean blocks and are called for the foul. But yeah, Sheed definitely gets the worse end out of most players. But again, it's his fault. I mean, I can't agree with giving him bad calls just because he heckles you. But I do believe he needs to calm down and play with some self-discipline. I mean, it's part of being a professional. He gets paid a lot of money to play basketball, he should show some restraint, it's the least you can ask. I mean, I love to see when someone cares about the game. I'd rather see a player like Sheed than a player like Shaq, but still; he's going overboard imo. This was my whole point in the thread about Wade, it's the league. Pinning blame on a player like Wade, or Sheed, or Cassel is pointless. The league should take the initiative and make everything equal. If the league would start being consistent then I don't think we'd be having these problems.
