Why have they been so terrible this season especially? They call inconsistent basketball and that makes it hard for players to adjust. The amount of silly calls/missed calls is ridiculous. And I don't want to hear "There job is hard enough, they're only human." It costs teams games when refs screw up and quite frankly I'm pissed over some missed calls right now.
Yea, whenever I hear the commentators saying how tough there job is I get fed up. There are 3 THREE officials and none of them saw the foul? None of them saw that his foot WASN'T on the line? The officiating has gotten so ridiculous broadcasters like TNT, ABC and ESPN will choose not to show a replay if it's that obvious the officials got the call wrong and I think that's sadly funny.
They might have the hardest job in the world but why are NBA officials by far the worst of any sports league? Its not even close. NFL, MLB, NHL, College basketball, college football, euroleague basketball; the NBA officiating isn't even close to being as good as any of these. The USA team will keep getting their ass kicked in international play because the officials aren't going to coddle them like they do in the NBA. In fact they're probably biased against NBA players, though they actually have some pride and respect for the game and how its meant to be played and wouldn't show much bias in their calls. Superstars will be superstars with or without biased officiating, please for the love of christ let them play and officiate the game fairly for all players. Its so weird how its widely tolerated and is pretty much known as fact that NBA officials don't give the same calls to all players, we all know that superstars and veterans get better calls than role players and rookies, we don't think this, we know this, and everyone knows this but it continues to go on. Kobe, Wade, Arenas, etc. all of them can dominate in any circumstance, once they get lazy and whore their way to the line its just hurting the game and its plain to see in international play. In the NBA they know they don't have to work for a shot when they can just run straight into their defender and throw up a shot while exaggerating contact and get 2 FTs guaranteed. Not so in international play, they actually have to work for their shots and focus on putting the ball in the hoop instead of finding different ways to make the refs blow their whistles. Of course, they're playing in the NBA most of the year so they're used to being down 10 in the 4th and getting 20 FTs in a single quarter. Its not much of a surprise to me when the Euros who are role players in the NBA are all of a sudden stars on their country's basketball team and also guys like Duncan and Melo who don't quite get calls as babied as other NBA superstars dominate in international play. Any other officials of any sport would be disgusted and embarrassed if they had the reputation that NBA officials do.
http://nba-boss.streamos.com/wmedia/nba/nb...op10_070208.asx Look at the 1:44 mark. This shows you how much of an assholes the refs are. The lakers get 2 easy points.
^haha, reminds me of that football play where that official crashed into the player about to catch a TD pass. Invalid Video Link This is when officiating just gets terrible. I don't see how they wipe out Houstons 2 points AND give Atlanta the ball, when the Rockets got it to start with all because the officials forgot to switch goals. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bTkIhGvSSXI < LINK Invalid Video Link The Mavs got cheated out of game 3 in the finals. The clock kept running from 46-42 in the game where Josh Howard called the timeout and couldn't advance the ball. They would have had 5 seconds to score rather than 1. Okay, season games - no biggie, but this is for the whole shebang. The clock is stopped...the officials can go back and fix that, just terrible. They can't make sure the friggin' clock stopped? Well, maybe Dallas did win the whole thing last year. Invalid Video Link The NBA babying LeBron. The whole game Kobe got hacked, but that's okay. The last play makes me cringe. Both Cavs traveled, you can't take a step before the dribble, and then Kobe swipes the ball, but eh, Kobe gets his fair share of star calls. Invalid Video Link Ok, ok, I'll stop now.
