So we got Harrington and Foyle for 3 more years after this season (Foyle is probably 2 years since he has a team option on his 3rd year).

Ben Wallace has 3 years guaranteed at 15 mil, 14.5 mil, 14 mil (so no increases according to hoopshype)

    http://www.hoopshype.com/salaries/chicago.htm

Would we do a trade for Al Harrington, Adonal Foyle for the 33 year old 4-time DPOY? Both Foyle + AH's salaries match up to Big Ben.

This lineup would look sweet IMO, but it probably couldn't shoot free throws worth crap or score inside. We can throw Alley oops to Big Ben and still hit a cutting Biedrins or Biedrins posting up other power forwards in the league, instead of centers.

    C: Ben Wallace
    PF: Andris Biedrins
    SF: Stephen Jackson
    SG: Jason Richardson
    PG: Baron Davis

    Sixth Man: Monta Ellis

Ben Wallace could be a valuable veteran to mentor Biedrins/POB.

Inside scoring could still be a problem, though, but we get a tougher defensive player, who can rebound, is athletic and strong, and is smarter than Al Harrington and Foyle combined.

Here's another one not involving big ben, but trading Al Harrington for the expiring contract of Jamaal Magloire. We get a rental center that can produce a double double or backup Biedrins.

We clear a little more cap sooner for Ellis or Biedrins or whoever.

i dnt think the warriors will be trading harrington anytime soon...he has been playing good as lately...we should be looking to trade for expiering contracts though for ellis and biedrins...we do Not want to get rid of 2 future allstars!

Man, you must hate Harrington. I'm still willing to give him a chance to at least become a more consistent and efficient scorer. I can't stand the nights that he goes 7-25 or worse, not to mention the D.

I actually like both scenarios. But I doubt the bulls or blazers would do either trade though.

I dont know who any of you guys are (running joke outside of the GSW forum), but I really dont see why Chicago would trade Ben, especially for Harrington & Foyle.

Yeah, I dont know why big ben would get traded from the bulls for anyone, let alone our crap. Besides, either one of those trades leaves us more depleted than before...

I wouldn't do that trade if offered. Harrington is averaging 19.6 ppg, 7.5 rpg, 2.7 apg, 1.4 spg as a Warrior. His FG% has dipped the last few games to just 43% but all indicators are that his usual FG% is more like 45% and I think he'll get that or better once Baron and JRich come back. In the last 5 games hes averaging 8.8 rpg and in those games the W's have outrebounded their opponent 4 out of 5 times. When was the last time we outrebounded teams more often than not in a 5 game span? We sure as hell didn't do it with Murphy and Dunleavy, even if Harrington only gets 6 rpg you know hes at least boxing out and letting someone else get it.

The guy is definitely not a star but hes been trying to help carry the team with Baron, Monta, and JRich out or injured and although hes been shooting a low FG% hes still scoring well, getting the team off to a good start, rebounding well, and hes even been creating good shots for others pretty often. If we traded him for basically just cap relief our rebounding wold be much worse off, I don't think our defense would be any better either because hes got the experience and bulk to hold his own with legit big men (we'd go back to zone 100% of the time). I really like him as a piece to the puzzle in GS, not a star, but a top notch role player. Hes a guy who will hit open shots, rebound, he does draw some attention on offense because hes a mismatch for most players and he finds Biedrins quite often right under the rim, hes not selfish, he can handle and push the break, he does a decent job defensively on big men (he doesn't get lit up a la Ike, Murphy, Foyle).

I think if you're expecting him to be a star or the PF of our dreams then obviously you'll be disappointed. Thats just not him, but just because hes not the answer does that mean he has to be moved? Hes clearly our best option at PF and hes probably Nellie's dream PF as long as he keeps the rebounding up. One thing I love about the guy that you couldn't say for many players in the NBA is that hes a hard worker and he holds himself accountable; after the first game in GS he came out and said that he needs to improve his scoring, and he did. After the first few games in GS he said he needs to fix the rebounding, and he did. Until we have another starting PF waiting to take his job then I think it would be a bad move to trade him and play Barnes/Pietrus at PF full time.

The Warriors couldn't do that trade until next year anyway. The trade stipulation on Harrington doesn't expire until after the trade deadline, at which point they can't do ANY trade until the off season. Until then, the only deal involving Harrington must be a 1-for-1 swap, no package deals.

But of COURSE I'd do it. However in Nellie's system do you REALLY think he'd put Beans at the 4 and Wallace at the 5, lol? He'd probably start Stephen Jackson at the PF.

That would be a horrible trade. Nelson isn't going to play Ben and AB together. He'll rotate those two instead. Ben isn't a force on offense and we need scoring up front or else we start shooting 3s.

Ben is great on defense though and pretty quick. He was so quick that you almost didn't see him give MP an ankle sprain that last game. He is also a ferocious rebounder.

I rather get Jamaal Magloire from Portland as backup center if that's possible. We can still keep POB as the third center and watch him develop.

He'd hate it here. I don't think he wants to play 5 on 1 defense, as good as he is on D.

GS needs big post players to play alongside Beans at PF. However, if Nelson is going to remain coach, they need to get Dirk Nowitzski -- a 7 footer who can run the floor. Because Nelson will refuse to play a legit PF as long as he's in town. And, as long as he continues to play Harrington at PF (not that he has much choice) this team will suck ass

I like Big Ben's game, but I agree he is not a good fit for Don Nelson. How about Darko Milicic? He seems more Nelson's type, he's a true 7-footer but can run the floor, finish on breaks, and do a variety of things. He hasn't been getting the minutes he wants in Orlando, and he's probably gettable without giving up the farm. Of course even if he plays well, you still have the problem that it's unlikely Nelson will play him in tandem with Biedrins, which is what we all know would need to happen. I don't care if we get Pietrus and Baron and JRich all back healthy...Harrington is not a PF and Biedrins will continue to struggle to defend alone inside.

Guys, this is why I love this board. I don't need the others who are into the dunks, flash, and sizzle. You guys break it down on the true basketball and that's what keeps me coming back. Thanks and keep it up.

No secret, I hope Al Harrington's days are numbered if we can get a player that better fits the power forward position or small forward position. And this is despite him coming up big in some games for us (Meaningless games IMO if we couldn't secure a playoff berth with a low degree of difficulty with or without Jrich or Baron).

I just think Al's overrated, plain and simple. I don't think he makes a good small forward or a power forward for the long term. His problem is Jamison's problem only he's not as efficient or as good. He's better off as a utility player rather than a full time guy at any forward position IMO. He does one thing: score. His passing comes at the price of a stupid turnover and he doesn't rebound that well except trying to chase down his own misses when he can't finish inside. And I don't like Sjax for this reason either, but I think he's passable in some cases. And Monta Ellis is a high school rook, unlike the other guys who are just former high school players with many years of nba experience.

Al's a player where looks can be disceiving. He's supposed to be an all-around scorer with both a face-up shot and a back-to-the basket player, but damn I'm just not a fan of his game. In my eyes, he's still the disappointing finisher inside that Dunleavy/Murphy was and he's just as bad on the defensive end, and he doesn't rebound to boot. He does offer a lot of scoring, but what else can he do? Passing? He's not even a natural playmaker and if he was he'd boast a better turnover to assist ratio.

I'm just really split with trying to support Nelson, but not agreeing with his entire basketball philosophy. I think his style doesn't win games when it matters, especially not for a team that is a bad regular season team that suffers from a variety of matchup problems.

I hope that explains my position. Harrington is a big tweener, where you either love him or you hate his game. Nice guy, though. Looks a little bit like a ninja turtle which I think is kind of funny.

Hopefully, the pacers trade is only a short term solution to avoid luxury tax and that those guys can get us better players in return... Hopefully, but then again I've been saying that word a lot every season. Hopefully...

I agree on this,at first a lot of people focused just on the plus side of the Indy guys. AH and Jax had built some rep at ATL and Indy, and what their fans said was fair warning. Harrington is not a contact player despite his size,he's a big SF mostly. Jax seems to know the game but like Fisher,Starks,Sprewell, often overestimates his shooter skills. Jax is not instictively a guy who's big on rbds,D,passing, though he is sometimes focused....the end result is not that unlike Dun,if the perimeter shot ain't dropping his whole game can get unglued.
Cabbages would be a nice smart PG if he could play SOME D.

As it is.....I don't have Jax or Jasevicus in my plan for next year..but I don't see us getting a lot back. Harrington is not a great fit,but often his pluses top his negatives. In Nellie-think,can Harrington be a SF?

As for Big Ben,the age/salary stuff would be of concern. If we had Wallace-Biedrins playing,it ought to mean more D-rbds...but Nellie likes running, ball handling....stuff Ben isn't known for.

Last I saw....on a per minute basis Foyle was doing as much as Ben-maybe more. Nellie has shown little inclination to use Foyle-Biedrins togather.
