Basically, everyone knows how I feel about this moron. He plays uninspired basketball, just goes through the motions...he's worthless to this team, but Mitch is too damn stupid to see that. I hope there are GM's out there that also realize this. Post some trade scenarios that are somewhat realistic. Fans of other teams, do not come in here and bait and be disrespectful, if you think the trade is a wash, then state it respectfully. Trade 1: Odom, Mihm, and Farmar (or a pick) for Gasol, Dahntay Jones, and Alexander Johnson Trade 2: Lamar Odumb, Jordan Farmar, and Aaron McKie for Jason Kidd.
Don't you think we should give Lamar more time? Like I said before, he was playing great before his injury. He was being aggressive on offense, scoring, rebounding, passing, making plays, and doing basically everything. I will never forget how he lead this team to a winning record without Kobe Bryant in the lineup. Has his play been frustrating as of late? Yes it has. He hasn't been aggressive, and it doesn't seem like he's playing with any purpose. But then again, who else on this roster, besides Kobe Bryant, has? I say give him a couple more games before we detirmine whether or not we want him gone. He was playing great before the injury, and I don't see why he should'nt get back to form. Just give him a couple more games and see what happens. Maybe he's just rusty? Maybe he's not 100%? Remember, when Kobe returned from his injury this season, he wasn't Superman. It took him time to get back into form, and I'm suspecting (and hoping), that Odom is doing the same. Also, as for the trades you proposed, I don't see why the Grizzlies would take on Lamar Odom's huge contract when they're trying to rebuild. They can get better offers from other teams around the league, for an example, the Chicago Bulls. The same goes for the New Jersey Nets. I don't see why they would want to take on Odom's huge contract. If they trade away Jason Kidd, that will most likely mean the Nets are going to rebuild. As of now, Odom's huge contract makes him really hard to trade. Especially considering we have Mitch Kupchak as our GM I don't know if you really thought in depth about the trades, but shame on you Mamba for your stupid little trades.
They were spur of the moment trades, but I'd pull the trigger on either one of them in a heartbeat. Are you serious about giving Odom more time? We suck with him, we're 3-7 since he's been back, he's had enough time to knock of the rust. These guys are professional, if he's still rusty, he shouldn't be playing and he sure as hell shouldn't participate in the ASW events. He's been lazy, lackadaisical, and non-existent on offense. Yes, he's been good grabbing boards, but that's about it. We're never going to get close the a championship with Odom and Mitch needs to realize it. I miss Kwame, we're 10-10 without him.
i wont give up odom for kidd coz if we do we just go back to square 1 with a few more years for a run for the title with the current lineup
Well then how come Lamar Odom performed so well in the beginning of the season? I know this may sound ridiculous, but I still have faith in Lamar

If Rod Thorn (Nets GM) was stupid enough to do that trade, Kidd + Kobe = championship contenders.
I wouldnt include LO in any trades except for dwite howard or kg Lamar is not 100% i wouldnt trade his until after the season he be better after allstar break he just needs a break.
While I love Odom and what he's capable of doing, we're not winning with it right now. We've been far too inconsistent and can't seem to win close ones right now. And personally, I wouldn't go for the 2nd one. We have no 2nd scoring option if we give up Odom for Kidd, and we'd get no youth in return. Instead, we'd give up our 2nd best player just entering his prime for a PG, while still the best in the league (imo) is aging and probably doesn't have more than a couple years left playing at a high level. The Gasol trade is very appealing though. We'd have a post scorer that we don't have at the moment and someone that can really solidify our 4 or 5 position the instant he steps on the court. And while he may be considered "soft"...well, that's what we have Kwame for.
I like the Gasol trade for the reason that we will have a post scorer who can rebound and defend. Imagine having to double team on the wing against Kobe AND double teaming on the block on Pau. either way it would be easier on the role players to make shots on one end and defend on the other. In the meantime, I will try to think of someone trades, but we all know I'm a retard when it comes to these things. (fan bias being the reason)
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">he sure as hell shouldn't participate in the ASW events</div> Wait. Is lamar odom in one of the all star events? if so, for what reason?

Right now, it seems like there are 2 receipts to be a top contender; one is to have 3 all-star caliber players and two is have a good post player and a good perimeter player for an inside-outside game.
Odom is participating in that lame shootout thing, the team of 3 from like SA, NY, etc. If he's so "rusty" and "out of shape" he should train over ASW, not participate in some event. Kidd is more effective today than Odom will ever be, I'd give up Odom for him in a heartbeat.
Elton Brand could've been ours. Supposedly, we had a deal lined up to acquire Brand, Q Rich and someone else for Shaq....but Shaq refused to move across town. If only Jerry West was stupid enough to help us out! If I had tequila right now, I'd take a shot in hopes of West trading us Gasol...then quitting, and joining the Lakers!
The reason why the Lakers were playing well before the 31st of December its because Luke was being the consistent player night in and night out complementing Kobe's game. Eventhough my frustration with Odom is like everyone in this forum (real fans) I suggest we keep him and get a solid perimeter defender. Who? I dont know. It frustrates to see Odom out in the perimeter trying to defend small forwards and gets beat easily. We need to get a bruce bowen, ron artest type of player. Like when the Bulls had Ron Harper. I think we could get a solid perimeter defender with our expiring contracts. Secondly, I dont understand why Cook is not playing. He is a great shooter and complements Kobe in the Pick Roll. If you guys recall that's how the Lakers were wining games in the beginning of the season. We just have to be realistic and understand that Odom will never be the dominant type player we want him to be.
I agree with most of what you said, but here are a few viewpoints of mine. The loss of Luke has been huge, but not as big as Kwame's. We're 10-10 without Kwame, and we're going to miss him for another 5 weeks or so. Granted, some of those losses have come because Luke is out as well, but we're missing our most valuable post assett, especially on defense. A perimeter defender? I don't know...this team isn't that good defensively outside of Kobe (who is having a terrible defensive year) and Kwame. I don't think one player would change anything. If we can trade a package of Odom and fillers for somebody who could step up and give us a consistent 20 a game, I think it would help our team a lot more. About Cook...he's in the doghouse. Him and Jackson have been off for awhile now and it reached it's climax the other night when Cook threw his warmups at Jackson. Radman has been playing solid basketball lately, he's basically burried Cook on the bench since Luke went down. As for Odom never being a second option, I completely agree. The guy doesn't have the determination, desire, want, hunger, energy, motivation...whatever you want to call it, to be a consistent player in this league. He's far too lazy and lacks the enthusiasm of being a great basketball player. He should be in the post or driving, not settling for jumpers that often rim out.
Someone, send a message to Lamar and copy Mamba's last post. Maybe this will make him furius and he'll record a TD next game.
A triple double...from Odom? Please..the guy should be averaging one every flippin' night...especially with Kobe on the team. I won't say anymore though, I'm sure some people are getting very upset with me being blunt about Odom.
The Lakers are not going to trade Lamar Odom, especially not in the middle of the season. No one expects the Lakers to win a title this year, their goal is to advance to the second round of the playoffs, and anything after that is exceeding expectations. Lamar Odom is in a funk, but he's still producing in other areas of the court. His biggest impact has been rebounding, he's averaging over 12 rebounds per game in February. What Lamar isn't doing enough of is attacking the basket. He's taken 22 three pointers and only 20 free throws. For a player his that's unexceptable, but I don't think Odom fully trusts his knee yet, and he's not in playing condition. The Lakers have been struggling because Odom has been disappointing when he's had to lead the second unit. He's having a hard time switching from facilitator to attacker when Kobe is on the bench. Despite Odom struggling, let's not throw away what he's accomplished in the past two seasons. With Odom it's just a matter of him gaining some confidence back, and having that light bulb go off for him to attack more. The Lakers should make a minor deal to add more size in the frontcourt with Kwame out for an extended period of time, and possibly some defensive help on the perimeter.

But according to reports Jackson and Cook conversated last Saturday and Cook apologize to the coaching staff and players. I think Cook feels the way we do. He could bring more to the team than Vladman and even Odom at times. Since he is buried in the bench it frustrates him to see the Lakers gettng beat. The way things are going...I dought the Lakers will make any moves.
