<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Their season of hope followed by the midseason of promise, the Warriors and their postseason dreams now confront the sharp and pointed blade of reality. Which is engraved, let's see, a closer look reveals . . . 2007-08. Given their 106-105 loss to the suddenly respectable Atlanta Hawks on Sunday night at Oracle Arena, this is as good a morning as any to put those playoff thoughts on pause. And keep them there until next autumn. That's when the Warriors, should they find the other side of luck, can assemble themselves, become integrated and begin to grasp the possibilities. That's when new faces on new teams could alter the balance of power in the Western Conference and, perhaps, work to their advantage. That's when the Warriors might have the luxury of a set rotation, as in five starters with three or four effective players coming off the bench. For the likelihood of this Warriors team playing beyond April 18 sits at a fraction above zero, and the barriers can be distilled to this: Five teams, two slots, one cranky knee, too many lineups and too few bench alternatives. To do the math is to conclude the Warriors (24-28) are doomed. They areamong five teams ? including the Nuggets (25-24), Clippers (25-26), Timberwolves (24-27) and Hornets (24-27) ? slobbering over the final two seeds in the West. As of this morning, after this painful defeat, the W's are fifth among the five teams. Or 11th in the race for a total of eight spots.</div> Read More
Yeah, it certainly looks that way. I mean if you can't beat a team like the Hawks on your home court, then you can kiss this season goodbye. The only hope is the trading deadline hasn't passed and Mullin makes a trade .
The sky is falling! THE SKY IS FALLING! I dont mean to make excuses but how many teams could have lost to the Hawks with their top 2 scorers out/PG etc? By the way, Harrington was basically ineffective the whole game too, partially due to an injury. Lets take the Mavs for instance. How would the Mavs have faired without Dirk and lets say Jason Terry? Or how about the Heat without Dwade/Shaq? Or the Spurs without Duncan and Parker? Etc, etc. Granted, we could have won last night had Montay just made 1 of those FTs he missed in a row, or the same could be said about Jackson, etc. Get a grip! If/when Jrich comes back to form and Baron Davis is recovered in a few games and we continue to play like this, then I will concede, but the end is near! There is a very good possibility that we may lose in Denver, but then go on to win 10 straight and be 5 games above .500 and have the 7th spot all to ourselves. Fictional? Probably, but we can go on and win several games in a row, drop one or two, then go on and win another 5-6 in a row and play .500 ball and make the playoffs. I have not written us off yet. Here is the key... The Warriors showed heart last night and against Chicago. The old Warriors would have crumbled and conceded a loss. These guys fought back. Granted, it is unfortunate that Jackson did not give the ball up to Monta, and we did not take the game ATL was so desparately trying to give away, but we were at least there. That may sound like loser talk, but I would rather lose by 1 than 10 on any given night... By the way, ATL won @ Pheonix for their last game; so by our logic, Pheonix should pack it in too since they could not beat a team like ATL at home without their PG...
Good point Warriorfansnc93. However there is no doubt the Warriors are in a tough position right now. I think Don Nelson mentioned after the trade something along the lines that it didn't matter how well this team finished in the standings, but there should be improvement because of the deal. Hopefully the main pieces can come back and turn this around for a hot streak while the team still has a chance for the playoffs.

NVE came back 2 weeks after his surgery, but said he rushed back too soon and reaggrivated his knees several times. I would like to see Baron take 3-4 weeks off and see if we can have 1 final play off push. But to be honest with you, I think the offense kind of bogs down under Baron. If monta and the other guys can actually pass the ball in the half court offense, we might be somewhat better off. But I have noticed far too many times 1 pass and jumpshot...
Dude, I was saying this all along. Let's hope the offseason goes well, but I don't have much faith considering free agents typically don't like the Warriors maybe because of ownership or maybe because of the losing culture or the play system in the past has been ambiguous. Hopefully Nelson can attract some quality guys that will play under the MLE and fit in later once we change this team from a small ball lineup into a mixed lineup with players both suited for halfcourt or open court offense (not one or the other which is too limiting and hard to make fit). The types of player matchups we draft, trade for, and sign as FA's will dictate this future play style that we will have to adopt at some point in time if we ever hope to do better than what Run TMC ever showed. You can't go deep in the playoffs or get a championship without defense and quality big men depth. If we just have small player's game, it makes us a running or a jump shooting team and those teams aren't very consistent at winning or doing the things that can save a game if the perimeter shots aren't falling. Rebounding, defense, ability to take it inside off the dribble and finish, and other forms of inside scoring should be a priority right now. It's about the inside-outside game I've been wishing for since 2003 when we were at least a decent team for a while, especially on the glass and limiting opponent fg% while maintaining respectable scoring figures. Now 2003 we still missed the playoffs, but at least we had an anchor in the paint, a strong defender at PF and C and a point guard that could find him inside.
it must be a karma thing. we get a good coach or a good team...we have 20-30 injuries we play solid, smart ball and the refs rob us anyone else sucks and they get a pick that sends them to the top...we get Dunleavy...Joe Smith... We DO get lucky (Arenas) and somehow there's a technicality that never seemed a problem for anyone else. it's always wait till next year...and next year is wait till next year....eventually you get the joke. You pretend it's time we win more than half the time.
Too bad Stern will never allow for the lottery to be slanted to where we get the 1st pick this year. Oden would make this team instant contenders with a healthy Davis and JRich. (Yes I'm talking lottery dreams again)
Naw....... but i bet JAson Kidd ends up a LAker..... wouldnt shock me if KG becomes a laker too...why not?.... stern needs to rebuild the lakers into a legit championship team..... he allowed tampering with shaq.... he allowed the horsecrap with Kobe " the lakers or duke, i am playing for no one else" and i wouldnt be surprised to see Oden A Celtic...... even if memphis has the worst record..... or philly..... and if not a celtic a knick.

Phil Jackson has already been hit with a tampering fine for trying to get Chris Bosh, so would think he would stump for pairing KG and Kobe together. He's not interested in building for the future, but win now. If he gets Kupchak to deal Lamar Odom, Andrew Bynum and filler for KG, it's doubtful anyone can beat that deal. <div class="quote_poster">REREM Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">it must be a karma thing.</div> Yup REREM, it must be karma.
Jason its the LAkers.... who once had Shaq, Kobe, Malone, Payton at the same time.... who once had Shaq, Kobe, Rice, ( 3 all stars at the same time) who once had MAgic, KAreem, worthy, mcadoo at the same time and wilkes who once had magic kareen worthy byron scott and ac green..... 4 were all stars in the same season who once had jerry west, elgin baylor, wilt chamerlain and gail goodrich at the same time for some reason the lakers always had at least 3 all stars and were always able to add above average talent from orlando woolridge, maurice lucas, sam perkins.... ron harper, fox, horry, the league has always bent over backwards for the Lakers.... it is sickening....
Warriors need to tank, cash in the season and try to throw all the chips in to get a marquee PF like KG, JO, or Gasol.
It's kind of shocking to know that the Warriors have been out of the playoffs for 12 straight seasons and never drafted a Franchise player. When Philly was struggling they drafted Iverson, Cavs got Lebron, Magics got Howard, Wolves got Garnett, Spurs got Duncan, and we got nothing. Maybe its still early and the last couple drafts can change that but i'm still just shocked. You think in 12 seasons we could of atleast made a team that would get us in the playoffs but wat the hell happened?
It's not Cohan's fault -- he's done everything he could, and then some. Gave the GM unlimited power and unlimited dough, let him hire and fire whoever he wanted, and trade for whoever he wanted. It would have worked if Murphy could have fit in to Nellie's system. At one point it looked like he could (outside shooting big man). He was 6'11" and that made up for the inefficiencies. But once they realized they weren't going to get a potential all-star out of Murph, things didn't look good. Who plays that CENTRAL role in Nellie's system? Where's the big man that can stretch the D? Suddenly he's trying to plug Barnes in there or Dunleavy and that's painful and then the trade comes... we think it is good... Now we have a big man who can shoot -- the only problem is he's not a big man -- he's not 6'11" like Dirk or Murphy, he's a short 6'9" and he plays small around the basket. Suddenly the Warriors interior presence goes from minimal to barf-o-rama. I really like Harrington and the effort he's ben giving - this guy can flat out shoot. But playoff teams don't live on the perimiter. The only way this team will EVER get better is to get bigger and a SIGNIFICANTLY more forceful interior presence. If they get a big man PF who can shoot but he's also 7 feet, that's okay if he can rebound. But 6'9" and weak inside will never cut it, IMO. No fault to Harrington, he's just playing the wrong position. GS needs a big PF who has presence inside. Otherwise, fffffbbbbhhhhtttt <-- that's the sound of a fart
