I guess it was bound to happen sooner or later. But I don't think this is necessarily a bad thing. Ellis has improved at PG over the season, to the point where he's not turning the ball over as much. With Jrich back, this team is not doomed, unless Jrich plays the way he played in the beginning of the season.
Yep. I mean even with Baron back the season was probably over anyway unless Mully could pull off a trade. I didn't see it coming together before Baron went down, and I didn't see it coming together if/when he returned. This roster is just too funky and inconsistent. Looks good one night, looks like ass the next. Small ball is cute, but you can't get away with it if you don't have a back-up plan. When Nellie was in Dallas he had Dirk at PF -- a 7 footer who was big, muscular, and could run the floor -- that worked fine. But GS doesn't have that. Even Phoenix has a high-wire group of forwards that crash the boards in Diaw, Marion, Stoudamire, and Kurt Thomas. They're not big but they're strong and active on the glass. There's no way this team could have done much anyway without some bigger bodies, or at least a coach willing to try a bigger line-up (with Powell, POB, even Beans+Ike when Ike was here... instead he'd try to play Ike at center wtf?) I think Nellie is an awesome coach but this team would have needed a few bigs if they wanted to do anything anyway. Getting JRich back wouldn't have helped that at all, either. Time to think blockbuster trade or draft.... take your pick, Mully.
Wow, this is a significant blow. I thought he just had a bruised knee? I hope he does not turn into an 80 year old man after this being his second relatively minor knee surgery. You only have so much cartilage to resurface and if you run out, there is no repairing that. I hope he can be back after about 10-15 games...
This really is a setback. First, it's better to make sure Baron is going to be all right and not rush him back. Remember what happened to JRich when he rushed himself back. Man, that was dumb and it caused him to miss this season. As for Baron coming back this season (KNBR reported that he will), it depends on whether the Warriors are still in the race or not. If the W's are out, then it's Baron you still don't look too good. Maybe you better get some more R&R. You can never tell about these things. After all, you only have so much cartilage in the knee. 2007 NBA Draft aka The Greg Oden Draft here we come. <div class="quote_poster">Carter Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">When is JRich coming back?</div> I read something like a week ago that he's scheduled to return on Feb 21. One day before the trading deadline.
ouch...this definately hurts. he was our heart n soul this season IMO. still, i dont know why a lineup of ellis, jrich, jax, al and beidrins cant make a run for that 8 spot though...fuccit, lets get a draft pick, i'm used to this.
This is right about the time of year when playoff teams start really gelling, getting that tight chemistry, and begin firing on all cylinders... not breaking down on the side of the road.
WEll if the season ended today we would have SURPRISE : you guessed it the 11th picki and with boston on an epic free fall.... and memphis tanking.... Oden is pretty much out of our grasp .....
This hurts, but NVE came back 2 weeks after having the same kind of surgery. Heck, my wife had the surgery and a few weeks later she was up and about. I am sure Baron can come back in about 4 weeks healthy and ready to go. I also think a lineup with Monta Jrich Jackson Harrington Beans can make a run at the 8th spot too. I especially like what Cabbages does on the pick and roll with Beans. I think we should go ahead and let Baron rest as long as he needs to, not push too hard and bring POB back up from the D league as an extra body if needed...
Man, that sucks. It looks like the Warriors have to go fishing back in the NBDL for a PG or there is Penny or?... These three games before the all-star break, starting last night were important games. It's going to be tough without Baron and possibly Pietrus (anybody know his status?). Basically this team could be deep in the hole at the all-star break. Hopefully JRich can give this team a huge punch in the right direction if they want to be in serious position for the playoffs.
You know what the worst part about this is? Baron is on my fantasy team and is on the "Can't Cut" list. I'm stuck with a black hole for the rest of the season.
Let's see... We are currently 11th seed. I guess, it's time to shut both Davis and Richardson down for good, put Jackson to the jail (or Nelson's dog house), Harrington to 'suffer' mysterious back injury, and bench both Monta and Biedrins due to their 'inexperiences'. With enough tanking like 0-29, we may get 2nd or 3rd worst record in the league. Come on, Oden!
<div class="quote_poster">custodianrules2 Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">Relying on him to play 40+ min a game probably hastened this outcome.</div> I think you're right but hey, what ya gonna do? You gotta ride your horses and we didn't have the depth play him sane minutes.
<div class="quote_poster">custodianrules2 Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">Relying on him to play 40+ min a game probably hastened this outcome.</div> Definitely. No way he can play almost 40 minutes every night, Monta and Jasikevicius are finally starting to come around as options at PG but its too late now.

Monta is definitely taking better care of the ball and that's a step forward. He's still got alot to do to be a real PG, but he's making progress. Sarunas is clearly shaking off the iffy play of his first few games and finding his place. He's not the most uptempo PG in the world, but he can really run that pick and roll.
