Obviously it was unders different circumstances, but the Nets aren't going to get equal value for Kidd.
The Sixers got Andre Miller, Joe Smith and 2 picks. Not great, but not anything to sneeze at and certainly better than the aforementioned deal. I'm in favour of Kidd going to the Lakers because the Nets have to rebuild and he deserves a title shot. IMO, Thorn is an idiot if he gets anything less than Odom and at least 1 1st rounder. Lets face it, Odom has been nothing but a dissapointment since getting here, and many of you have seemed anxious to part ways with him recently. His playmaking is expendable with Kidd coming, and its not like you'd be losing much scoring. Sure, you lose your best rebounder, but Kidd is also the best rebounding guard in the game and he certainly bolsters what is one of the weakest perimeter defensive teams in the league.
<div class="quote_poster">kobe23 Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">So youre saying the lakers are going to trade odom? hmmm imo the lakers will be top 3 if they get kidd without giving up odom, kobe, bynum and walton... everyone else is expendable... however if we lose odom for kidd then we would improve but we would have a smaller window of opportunity for a title run</div> You can't expect to get quality with just quantity. The Lakers has to dish out to get Kidd. Kidd will give the Lakers more than Lamar can evergive. Jason Kidd plays 110% a night, is a leader, makes his teammates better and did I mention that he is a walking triple double? Getting Kidd for Odom is a no brainer.

He's only got one or two good years left in him and he would obviously want to go to a championship contender. As of now in the West other than the Lakers and maybe Houston, no other playoff bound team needs any point guard help and the Lakers have more to offer for Kidd than Houston. The only team he might end up in the East would be with the Cavs. Again, the Lakers have more to offer than the Cavs. Lakers could easily get Kidd without giving up Kobe, Odom or Bynum.

Kwame, Farmar and a first rounder sounds like a fair deal for Kidd.
Me, personally, I don't think Jason Kidd will come to the Lakers. But anyways, the other team reportedly "interested" in Kidd is the Cleveland Cavaliers. What offers can they make to beat out ours? Also, as for draft picks, I'm positive that if we do somehow land Kidd (which I don't think will happen), we will send out 1 or 2 first round picks in the package

They already have a more talent rookie pg in Williams, and I hope I don't need to tell you how stupid it would be to have a rook backing up a rook.

In other words, a good offer, not a BS deal like Kwame, Mihm, and Farmar.
<div class="quote_poster">Swish Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">How the hell would the Lakers get Jason Kidd, one of the greatest point guards of all-time, without giving up at least one of the players you mentioned? There is no way Rod Thorn and the Nets are going to trade Kidd unless the deal makes sense for them as well. I doubt they would give Jason away for scrubs like Smush Parker or Aaron Mckie because they could get a whole lot more than that. If the Lakers really want Kidd, they are going to have part with one of the players you mentioned. Obviously Kobe isn't going to be traded and I think Bynum is pretty close to untouchable as well. He has really shown a lot of potential this year and I doubt they give him away. That leaves Odom and Walton and I think there is a chance one of them get shipped out if negotiations between Los Angeles and New Jersey start heating up.</div> pls read one of the laker kidd atricles... it says there that the nets are considering the offer of the lakers which includes kwame, vlad, mckie, sasha, williams and some picks for kidd

Kidd has adapted to every situation he has been put in. From Dallas to Phoenix to New Jersey. Critics disregarded him at the beginning of the season because of his age, and what has he done? 14.3 ppg., 8.0 rpg., 8.7 apg., 1.6 spg., and not to mention 8 triple doubles in the first half of the season. Kidd can take over games when needed, but he is a point guard first. A pure point guard. Which has been a rarity in the NBA for a long time now. You want to talk value? I wouldn't trade Kidd for Odom straight up.

Are you Laker fans that dillusional?? Even if you get Kidd w/out trading Odom, Walton, or Bynum, do you guys still believe you guys could go to a NBA Championship and win?? LOL Yeah right. Phoenix is still better than you, San Antonio is still better and Dallas is as well. JKidd is very old and is only getting older. His bad knees are a concern. He's due to miss some games this season just like last. Jason Kidd to LA sounds good, but it doesn't mean a trip to the NBA Finals. The Lakers would make a push, but without a solid big man (yeah Bynum sucks) the Lakers aren't doing anything big.
Even if we have to get rid of Lamar and others, Kidd is such an improvement. We go from getting a inconsistent and sometimes "almost triple double" to the TRIPLE DOUBLE man himself, J. Kidd. Plus, we get a true point guard and one of the best ever to play the game, exactly what this Lakers squad needs. The backcourt of Kobe + Kidd would be hardly arguable, the best in the league. Kidd still has a few years in him, don't get it twisted, and if he comes to L.A., it'll spark him to play even better.
the lakers are not only trying to get kidd for his triple doubles, but they are trying to get a veteran leader that actually guides them on the court ( not like mckie or shammond lol). kidd will actually speed up bynum's growth process by feeding him the ball every time he's in the paint (something that smush hardly does). also with the coming of kidd, kobe doesn't have to do that facilitating crap for his teammates for the first 3 quarters. this new kobe is not tough at all and he needs to be aggressive again (both offensively and defensively). kidd will bring that out of kobe
