<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The Washington Wizards held their first players-only meeting of the season yesterday and Coach Eddie Jordan met separately with guard Gilbert Arenas to clear the air as the team sought to regroup in the aftermath of a humiliating 21-point loss to the Portland Trail Blazers that ended with Jordan and his star guard criticizing each other through the media. Injured forward Antawn Jamison, who has missed five games with a left knee sprain, said he took Arenas aside Sunday and rebuked him for remarks in which he blamed the loss on Jordan's pregame emphasis on defense. "Oh, I talked to him," Jamison said yesterday. "It's like a little brother. Every now and then you have to spank 'em on the [rear]. I put him in the closet and gave him a whipping last night."</div> http://realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/446...as_jordan_meet/ Wow...what a quote by Jamison It's good that they're handling this personally, and not through the media.
Antawn Jamison has been the captain the Wizards and he's real important to roster because we have a young roster, but they've been able to reach first place, so Antawn will need to help keep this team together and keep Arenas from talking. That's what they've been missing these past 4 games, veteran leadership, it's just been sloppy, effortless, no energy play by these guys which led them to a 1-3 record without Jamison. It hurts even more because we had a real nice home stretch coming before Jamison went down, but now the Wizards need to focus because they're falling down in the East quickly with Miami resurging and Toronto rising.
Antawn is still there, he's injured, but it's not like he isn't around. The Wizards current problems are a little more than just not having Antawn around.
