As a person who has been a fan of his over the years, please shut up. These statements are beyond stupid even for him.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">"I knew after I said that that they'd double (team) me," he says "so I came out not too aggressive and got my teammates involved. It was part of my plan. But when we go up to their place, they won't be expecting it, and they won't double me. That's when I'm really planning on dropping 50."</div>

Yeah they aren't expecting It? uhhh....until you just said you are going to drop 50 on them. [IMG] got your team-mates involved? the early game stats would suggest otherwise.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">"The guy LeBron needs is Sam Cassell," says Arenas, "He needs someone who wants to take the big shots at the end of the game." I interject that LeBron would never stand for that -- it would kill his ego. "LeBron would much rather have Cassell take the final shot," says Arenas. "People don't realize that LeBron doesn't want it."</div>

Yeah talking smack to Lebron is wise. Also ironic coming from a guy who choked at the line in the dying seconds of game 6 of the eastern conference first round series which allowed the Cavs to take the series on Gilbert's homecourt. [IMG]

It's articles like those that remind me of how similar Mike James And Gil can be at times.

Gil's a cool character, but he really does need to be quiet. With that said, Lebron > Arenas [IMG]

How is lebron greater than arenas. Cuz he has more hype than jordan. Name 1 nba superstar let alone one better than arenas that hasn't scored 40 yet this season. I can Lebron. Also gil's team is doing better. Bron can't shoot his way outa a wet paper bag. And Gil's a superstar he can say whatever he wants cuz whether he does it or people wanna hear it chumps like u are gonna listen anyway. U just showing buy always commenting on the wrong and not good that he matters enough to pay attention 2 and duh we all know he does. If kobe can rape white women than gil can say lebron doesn't want the last shot homie..

^At this point in their career, I'd pick Gil to win a game over Lebron anyday.

Just because you can score doesn't make you better than everbody else.

How about rebounding? getting assists? showing good leadership? helping the young guys on your team? taking good shots? does none of this mean anything to you? This is all what Lebron has done in his career thus far and has at least led his team with no much around him to a decent record and to the 2nd round.

Lebron can't shoot his way out of a paper bag? he seemed to do just fine with those two pretty much game winners in the Cavs/Wizards series last year hey.

Take It from someone who saw Jerry Stackhouse average 30 points per game quite a few years ago...points aren't everything. Not that I'm comparing Gil to Stack but please bare in mind when posting such homerism to think before you post.

I respect Gil as a basketball player but his comments lately is making him look like the TO of the NBA. Someone said this on another board and when I think about It. It's a fair comparision in terms of the junk he talks.

On the game he vowed to score 50, he scored a whopping 9 POINTS - so he has lost any credibility he once had.

he was asked if he thought he could win the title with his current team given their pathetic defense, and he said "how many titles did the Showtime lakers win?". lol at him comparing himself to showtime lakers after choking against LeBron last year.

I forgot to follow up on that game too. 9 points has got to be his lowest point total in quite a few years.

I think Gilbert, whether right or wrong, is what the NBA needs. While he does and says weird things, it just makes him a unique character. With Shaq going to retire soon, Gilbert should be able to take over the reigns as the NBA's most unique personality.

He reminds me of Chad Johnson.

I was hoping that the game against Portland would humble him a bit, but I suppose he felt compelled to make an excuse and talk some more. I wish he'd just let his game speak for itself, because he's a hell of a player.

Players speak, so what? He's one hell of a player and I'd take him to win a game over just about anyone not named Wade...yes, including Kobe.

I wouldn't say he choked last playoffs either, if it wasn't for him and that HUGE three he hit, they wouldn't have even had the chance to win.

Chad Johnson is a better example than T.O. T.O. is a cancer. Gilbert is not a cancer.

Anyway, the 3-point shootout will be interesting this year. the line-up

    Gilbert
    Dirk
Damon Jones aka the best shooter in the world
    Kapono
    Jason Terry

there's someone for everyone to root for...

I chuckled when I read that. The NBA has a serious overload of ego's.

Hell, Gilbert really isn't even the better scorer of the two. The only thing LeBron really struggles with (outside of defense, but Gil has no room to speak there) is the foul line, but that really wasn't until a few weeks ago. Other than that, his offensive game is practically flawless. He's got court vision that only Steve Nash and Jason Kidd have in today's game. He's increased his range to well beyond the three point arc, he's got a great midrange game, he's an athletic freak, he can get to the rim at ease, he can finish with either hand, really, in order to find a flaw in his game, you'd really have to nitpick to say the least. Gil can't really say that. He's beyond streaky, he's not nearly as good of a finisher as LeBron, his passing skills and court vision aren't even close to the level of LeBron's either, the only thing he really trumps him in is shooting, and that's it. LeBron is a MUCH more complete player, and to say Arenas is better is out of complete bias.

Gilbert? Streaky? This is the worst stretch of basketball I recall him playing...he's far from streaky.

I'll take Gilbert on offense over LeBron. He's a hell of a lot more clutch, is just a good driver and nearly as good at finishing. His range on his shot is just as good as LeBron's, as well. You don't watch him much, do you?

Is he a better player than LeBron? Hell no, but I'll take him on offense over just about 99% of the league.

he really needs to take a more humble and modest approach to the way he treats his profession, or he'll end up disliked by everyone, like mike james.

You mean one travel and one game winner [IMG]

Gil likes to talk, and with his point prediction, he deserved the backlash, but most of the things he does is in fun. He talks to motivate himself, to annoy the competition, or just to be funny. Gilbert is like a fan, just like fans come on message boards and say things, he does the same, and I think it's great that he can do that. I don't know why people love the boring old, go to my PR guy before I say anything stars, but while I don't agree with everything Gilbert says, I'm happy he's not like the other guys. The Lebron we see in interviews and such has no personality. Maybe it's even good that Wade called out Dirk, I mean we need to see guys being real here, the robot players thing is very annoying, yet that's what people want.

Gil get's in trouble because unlike other guys, he's genuine, he's funny, and he's approachable. If someone comes to him, he talks to them like two fans would talk about basketball, and if they go print it, well that's nice, it's real, it's not scripted replies.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">"I'm a goof, c'mon, everyone knows that," Arenas said. "I look at the elders as the leaders on this team. I look at Antawn [Jamison] and when Antawn's down, I look at Antonio Daniels and Calvin Booth. I don't want anyone looking at me. I'm a floor general. I play. I do my things on the floor. How can I tell somebody, 'Don't shoot that shot,' when I'm out there chucking them up? I mean, let's be real." </div>
