<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> LOS ANGELES - Kwame Brown did a light workout at practice Monday, but the Lakers center still is a long way from playing again. A specialist in Indianapolis last week diagnosed Brown with a severely sprained left ankle and bone bruise. He has missed 22 straight games with the injury and was told he would be out another four to six weeks. Now that Brown is wearing a boot on the ankle to keep it immobilized and to keep the swelling down, he hopes he can come back sooner than the timetable the doctor gave him. "I'm praying every day that I can. It feels better," Brown said. "If it can feel better and I can come back before that, then I will." Brown worked out in a hard-cast brace, doing some shooting drills. He said he will talk to the doctor after this weekend's All-Star break in the hope he can speed up the return date. "He pretty much said I need to rest it a little bit longer and I had a really bad bone bruise on that inside," Brown said. "He was like, 'Maybe we tried to rush it a little faster than we should.' And just maybe (I should) immobilize it and the bone bruise will calm down and I can play with it." Brown said he has to wear the boot while sleeping, and he joked that it is difficult to do so. But he also cracked a joke at his own expense while explaining why he needed to get up some shots. <font size=""4"">"I try to go out there and shoot as much as I can and feel the ball because I already can't catch, so if I wait this long not to touch the ball, then you'll really see something special," said Brown, who has a history of dropping the basketball.</font> Kobe Chooses Side Even players are weighing in on who will win the showdown between former NBA great Charles Barkley and veteran referee Dick Bavetta. Barkley, 44, and Bavetta, 67, are scheduled to have a foot race during this weekend's All-Star break in Las Vegas. Kobe Bryant said Bavetta assured him "he was in the best shape of his life." Therefore, Bryant is putting his faith in Bavetta to defeat Barkley. "I'd go with Dick, unless you can tuck and roll," Bryant said, laughing. "If you're allowed to tuck and roll, then you have to give Charles the nod." </div> Source
Haha, I never though Charles and Bavetta would have the race after I heard Charles' challenge when he was commentating.
Good job Kwame, glad he can joke about it himself. I for one, really miss him on the court and think he is the reason we're not winning anymore. I wonder if you can place bets on the race, I bet Dick Bavetta is a huge favorite, hahaha, I'd def put my money on Dick.
Kwame is a huge reason why we're struggling so much, we're 10-12 without him. Bynum has progressed faster than we have all thought, but the kid is still only 19 years old, he's tired. His body isn't handling the minutes well right now. Once Kwame can get back out there, things should hit the norm again.
