It's on the front page of hoopshype right now. I am too lazy to post the link.

Interesting, I can't say I know much about Dixon's game.

The link goes to a blog that summarizes the ESPN Insider article. I'm not sure how credible Sheridan's trade rumours are, but we'd be lucky to swing this. Not only is Fred Jones not contributing anything, but Juan Dixon is an excellent scorer who's burned us a few times in the past.

I would rather have Nackbar score 22 points than Carter scoring 22 points.
Nackbar got 22 points mainly because we paid too much attention on Carter, he pretty much made shots... Its the NBA man, players are here for a reason.

Fred Jones for Dixon..... GREAT DEAL.
We get another guy that can pretty much score, and play decent defence. Dixon will contribute right away. Feel bad for Freddy tho, he had great potential, just hasnt found that groove.

Colangelo's technigue is pretty easy, every player on the court has to be able to score facing the basket, or posting up..... GOTTA BE ABLE TO PUT THE BALL IN THE HOLE. Thats why he will never get players like BEN WALLACE on our team.

lol, that's true. He is a good scorer, though and can distribute.

Dixon is not a good defender or a great distributor. He's a great shooter and he can score, but he really is more of a tweener shooting guard. He's far too small to play the position though, and with Calderon and Ford, we don't need another pg. Some may suggest going small combining him with either Ford or Calderon, but both of those guys are too small to compensate for Dixon's lack of heigth. Unless either pg goes down, I can't see how this deal helps us because he is too good to be a third-string pg.

Dixon is like House, except he's better. In all, Dixon>Jones for our squad.

House is more streaky and is more of a shooter. Dixon is a decent shooter and can slice into the paint more.

I can't see Dixon playing for us much. I think the rotation is pretty much set, I would make this trade simply because dixon contract is better and expires 1 year earlier/ By the way i think this wouldd be a great move for the Blazers. IMO a trade like this could tell us alot about managements plans to re-sign MO-pete.

Well if he has any pg abilities at all he'd be a definately upgrade as a replacement 3rd pg. Derek Martin getting time in the event of a Ford or Calderon injury scares me.

Just from looking at the numbers the trade doesn't seem to make much sense. We get rid of a guy who is way down in our depth charts for someone who is contributing reasonable numbers in a backup role (as far as i can tell?).

Something tells me that if we pulled the deal on this it's only the first domino, with future trades coming on draft day .. or something of that nature. My all Italian conspiracy theory is we somehow end up with Marco Belinelli at the end of the day.

I wouldn't mind if ended up with a top 15 draft pick in next years draft even if we had to take a minor step back to get it eg trading Mo-Pete. I would really like us to trade with phoenix who has the atlanta's pick in the draft next year (top 3 protected). Phoenix needs to add another piece if they want to win the Championship. The question is what would we have to give up to get it? I could see Athony Parker as a guy phoenix would just be salivating over eg +40% from 3pt land, team player, great defender. The question is would it be worth it???

Parker is in my opinion is our second best player although he is old (31) I think he could contribute for many years to come.

Mike James-lite is what Dixon is, but with even less playmaking ability.

Not to mention he gets killed defensively on a consistent basis.

I want to give Freddy another chance... maybe if someone gets injured and he steps in realizing what he did wrong the first time around... He has the talent and ability to do well on our team.

I wouldn't mind giving Jones another chance either but the one thing that concerns me is that he seems to ignore the team game and look for his own shot whenever he's on the floor. If he ever does get the chance to play again here, I don't want his selfishness to ruin what the team is trying to accomplish.

Colangelo has a knack for making under the radar deals, that turn average players into much better players. I think in the right system, Dixon could provide some real quality minutes. Jones hasn't worked out for us so far, so if BC likes this deal, then so do I.

We barely have enough minutes for two point guards. As I said earlier, Dixon and our current pgs are too small to play them together at the 1 and 2. Dixon is too good of a player to be a third-string pg and I'm sure he wouldn't stand for it.

The way I see it, Dixon would fill the role that Fred Jones should have. He'd be an undersized two who could handle the ball and maybe play a few minutes as the main distributor. However, the dude's a very good scorer. Replace, Jones' athleticism with Dixon's shooting ability (something we need more of anyways) and they're pretty similar.
