I want your guys opinion on this. I know we have been without Yao...but do you guys think we have a good shot at winning the championship? Its going to be a very tough road. Honestly though, I don't think we can hang with Dallas or Phoenix...especially if it stretches out to 7 games. Our record against above .500 teams isnt that great. Just wondering on what you guys think our chances are. Personally I think we have a 10% chance of beating our western conference rivals (and 80% chance against any eastern team that makes it through to the final). Mavs, Suns, Spurs are all pretty tough.
Personally, I feel the Rockets have the talent to go far. Will they reach the Finals? I don't know, but they definetly have the talent to. The Rockets are playing great without Yao Ming, and McGrady finally seems to be pretty healthy. Once Yao returns, the Rockets will be a very dangerous team. You guys hung in there with the Mavs last night, so I don't see why you wouldn't be able to take them in 7 games. Obviously the Rockets would be the underdogs, but they definetly have enough pieces for an upset.
Hell yea....Right now, Dallas is givin us tha business. But with Yao back we can beat anybody in the NBA. I just don't think we have the right coach to get the best of our team. Who knows? But my personal belief is we're the best team in the league w/ Yao Ming.
I'm actually impressed by how the Rockets have been playing without Yao. The Rockets should've won last night's game if Yao were in it. Barkley said it best - Rockets are gonna go as far as T-Mac is gonna carry. The trouble is T-Mac has been carrying this team for the whole year and might be worn down come playoff time. Unfortunately the Rockets will most likely be playing Spurs or Utah in the first round and T-mac will lose in the first round of the playoffs yet again.
The only thing that continues to bother me is the offensive incosistency. We relly on the 3 too much and sometimes settle for jump shots. Were not a good fast break team and rarely get easy baskets. but defensively I don't think you can argue we're set, but in the end you have to be able to put the ball in the basket, you can't completely shut down teams like Dallas and phoenix. Eventualy you gotta score.

If I recall correctly, we are 10-13 now against teams above .500; however, a majority of these games are without Yao --> the man who single handed helped us win against Dallas without Tmac. How Yao and Tmac will play together and share scoring will determine how well we do in the playoffs. also: Wells needs to play at least 30 mins a game. He has been really efficent for us.
Well, against teams like Dallas and Phoenix, if we can slow them down and let them play to our pace like we did with Dallas last night, we can be in games, and I'm confident we can do well in a seven-game series. The way we are right now, we'd most likely face Utah in the first round possibly with homecourt advantage, which is a great spot to be in. Getting past the first round this year should be a given, but this year, anywhere beyond the second round should be a bonus.

He said the Rockets wouldn't make it to the playoffs when we were 11-5. He's not an analyst he's a moron. I really want the Rockets to fall to 7th seed if Dallas falls to 2nd, but hey a 2nd round knockout would be just as surprising. Too bad we wouldn't break our own record and return the favor. <div class="quote_poster">Rock4life Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">Hell yea....Right now, Dallas is givin us tha business. Houston can go all the way to the 'ship, but they can also fall in the 1st round. I'm still pretty sure that they will take it to the 2nd round. After that, I don't know what to predict. (You guys won't win the ring, it's pretty obvious). You won't beat Dallas or Suns in West. Detroit and... LAKERS should be also tough to defeat.
Lakers??? Please dont be biased. It is obvious that with Yao back and Tmac at full strength. We can beat the Lakers. It won't be a series sweep or anything, but we can beat them 4 times before they can beat us. Detroit might be another story because they are a good team with that back court and the addition of Chris Webber.+
