Snagging Magloire would actually be a rather positive thing for this team, thought not nearly as good as adding Kidd. He'd give us a vig body down low and some added frontcourt depth, and with the way we keep losing players, that's very helpful. I really wouldn't mind landing him, I just hope we don't have to resort to this and are able to land Kidd.
Maybe its: Mihm + Mckie + first rounder (maybe a 2nd rounder instead) -> Portland Magloire + Kwame + cash? -> New Jersey Kidd -> Lakers
Can they do a 3 team trade where Kidd goes to Golden State Davis Goes to LA and LA bundle goes to Nets...nah? Davis To LA was the point I was trying to put out because it doesn't look like Kidd is going to LA and the next best thing is GS Davis and Monta are in GS which means PGs are tradable.
This was posted by Mercury in the Nets forum: <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Whether discussions regarding Jason Kidd and Vince Carter's future were ever serious, they now appear "stalled" less than 24 hours before the deadline, reports Sports Illustrated. Marty Burns of SI and Chris Sheridan of ESPN both say LA is still trying to make it work, but they are reluctant to give up Andrew Bynum. LA is now trying to find a reasonable facsimile elsewhere. As for Carter to the Magic, that deal appears dead at least until the summer. Meanwhile, the Nets are not happy with all the speculation.</div> ^ should we still be optimistic about Kidd in a Laker uni? It seems like Rod Thorn wants Andrew Bynum or bust. I'm not exactly sure about his reasoning, personally, I feel he's crazy if he thinks we're going to give up a 19 year old Andrew Bynum, with loads of potential, for a 34 year old Jason Kidd, who will most likely retire before Bynum even reaches his prime. The trade will also leave us extremely thin at the front court. Apparently, the trade talks have stalled, and the Lakers are looking elsewhere for help. I really don't know what the Nets expect in return for Jason Kidd. I personally don't think they're going to get any better offers in the offseason, then they are getting now. With Jason Kidd and Vince Carter, the Nets suck this season. They may make the playoffs as the 8th seed, and get eliminated in 4 games. Next season, Nenad Kristic will return, but Vince Carter will probably walk for nothing, so that basically leaves the Nets right back where they were this season, maybe even worse. I don't see the Nets being contenders at all in the next couple of years, so keeping Kidd on the roster just doesn't make sense to me. He's old, and extremely pricey. Either way you look at it, the Nets will most likely look to trade Kidd in the offseason when Carter walks, so why not trade him now? Why wait until the offseason? Will the Lakers even be interested later on?
Sheridan just reported that Kidd doesn't mind coming here at all, but he wants it resolved. It's in the Lakers court, basically. He didn't mention Bynum at all.
Nets appear unlikely to deal Kidd or Carter <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Jason Kidd was still a Net yesterday, and two people familiar with the team's trade discussions said the All-Star point guard appears likely to remain in New Jersey beyond tomorrow's NBA trade deadline. The Nets have had "a lot of discussions" with the Lakers about Kidd, one of the people said, but team president Rod Thorn hasn't been presented with an enticing deal.</div> Full Story
Even if we agree to give Bynum as previously mentioned the salaries wont work. We would have to trade Kwame+Bynum+fillers. The Lakers wont trade for both. I heard that the Lakers have a 20% chance of getting Kidd as of today and honestly I don't think its going to happen at all because it would had happen yesterday or today.
<div class="quote_poster">Carter Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">Would you guys give up Bynum for Kidd?</div> No
<div class="quote_poster">Carter Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">Would you guys give up Bynum for Kidd?</div> No way. You know what the Nets are asking way too much for Kidd. I think we are better off with out him. I know the Lakers are struggling right now and we want an answer but I don't think Kidd is it. Without Bynum or Brown, and Mihn who do we have left as big men...Cook? Turiaf?
Jason Kidd played tonight for the Nets, I'd imagine if he were going to be a Laker he would have sat out. PJax said it takes 36 hours alone just to fill out the paperwork and get the formalities over with. He doesn't expect any trades to take place. It's possible the Lakers have traded Mihm and McKie for Magloire, but I'd be surprised if a big name player joins us by tomorrow's deadline.
If I had to guess, I'd say it's about 20% of Ratner doesn't want to override Thorn. I'm intrigued by Maagloire, though.
Remember this: <div class="quote_poster">Quoting Hoopsworld:</div><div class="quote_post">The Buzz after the Nets loss tonight, has everyone believing Jason Kidd is being traded to the Lakers. Kidd basically told media that he enjoyed his time in New Jersey and fully expects to be traded by the 3pm trade deadline. It’s not clear which side budged on the deal, but informed sources believe Brian Cook, Kwame Brown and Jordan Farmar are coming to New Jersey. The deal is not expected to be announced until tomorrow. </div> http://www.hoopsworld.com/article_20926.shtml
Yes, very. According to sources, Bucher was on BSPN saying NJ wants to deal Kidd after the loss, so expect him to be dealt. I'm done, f this trade. I want to tank and draft Durant
This is the Lakers plan. Mark my words. We will definitely get Jason Kidd .....tomorrow. When KG becomes available we will then trade Odom, Bynum and fillers for KG so we will be instant conteders..... I say next season. Lakers back in the Finals in 2008 with Kobe, Kidd and KG the KKKs. Ohhhh! Man thank God for wishful thinking.
