Wow, Freddie didn't last too long in Toronto. I like this move, Jones was obviously not going to get any playing time here, the way he has been playing lately. I had high hopes for him when he came here, but things didn't work out so you have to cut your losses.

Dixon has a cheaper contract and it expires one year earlier than Jones. It's good that Colangelo can recognize his mistakes and correct them quickly.

Nice to see Colangelo cut our losses and go with a cheaper, shorter contract. Hopefully he can address our inconsistent shooting, without going all Mike James on us.

I was wondering why Jones was playing lastnight. good move by both teams. I really think Jones might be able to turn it around playing in his hometown just needed a fresh start. Ad i agree with chutney as to why its a good move for the raptors.

Juan Dixon has the mid-range game the Raptors need, and can hit from behind the arc when he's open. Dixon is a heady player, and has the ability to come right in and make shots.

I was going to say Fred Jones playing last night had "trade bait" written all over it. I really like this deal, although it isn't very significant. Getting cap space sooner than expected is a great move by BC, even if it is just recovering from his initial mistake.

I hope Jones does well in Portland, he's a classy guy who just never found his spot in Toronto.

Another benefit is we don't have to see Jones in those awful 'Bad Boys' commercials.

Seriously though, I'm with the rest of you in hoping he does well in Portland. He just needs to realize his limitations and play to his strengths.

Good trade. Fred Jones was doing nothing on our team anyway, so i dont mind losing him.

Juan Dixon will provide us with that 2nd option from the 3-point arc behind Mopete. We know Bargs is gonna jack up few 3s there and there, but Dixon and Mopete are the legitemate 3-point shooters.

Good move by BC, i like the trade still.

Can't really say anything bad about this trade. Jones was obviously not working out in Toronto, and we've improved our bench, and our shooting with the trade.

I'd imagine Dixon will be brought in as a hired gun, and a pressure defender. He'll help spread the floor, and harass the smaller pg's of other teams. I like it. If it doesn't work out, then we have him on the books for less money/less time then Freddie...so it all works out.

From what I've read (I haven't seen him play very much myself), he's not a very good defender at all.

    I like the trade.

I'm happy that Fred Jones gets to head home, the reports said he was happy. I was happy to acquire Fred Jones, but it wasn't working out here.

I like this trade. Strengthens out bench by a good margin.

However, I'm not a big fan of Dixon's defence. He gets exposed easily and often. But again, it ain't like Freddy was Bruce Bowen.

    I'll take this trade.

How badly did the former Slam Dunk champ want to get out of Toronto, where he was not playing, and get back home to his native Oregon? He agreed to give up the final year of his contract, worth $3.5 million, to make it happen</div>
    Marty Burns

I know Jones' contract with the raptors was a 3 year deal the last year being a player option for 3.5 mil so i guess he must have promised portland we would not exercise his option.

Dixon is a 6'3 thin SG that is very streaky, but if he get's hot in games he can give you good performances. Really won't change much for the team, but if he can get minutes that's better than what Jones has been doing for a while.

    According to their nba.com profiles.

Fred Jones is 1 inch shorter, but outweighs Juan Dixon by 56 pounds.
