<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">ORLANDO -- For the second year in a row, the Orlando Magic added Trevor Ariza as the NBA's trading deadline came and went.

Ariza, the forward who was acquired from New York last February in a deal that sent Steve Francis to the Knicks, received clearance Thursday from the team's medical staff and general manager Otis Smith to return to action tonight when the Magic play host to the Detroit Pistons.

When Ariza went down Jan. 10 with a slight tear of the medial collateral ligament in his right knee, the Magic were 22-14 and in first place in the Southeast Division. Their record without him is 5-14, and they might have hit rock bottom Wednesday night in a 110-82 loss at Detroit.

They're going to need more than the addition of one of their top reserves to reverse their fortunes against the Pistons.

"I'm not going to say I'm going to make a difference," Ariza said. "But what I can do is play hard and do everything I can to help my team win. I'm just going to do what I normally do -- just to play my hardest. Whether I play well or don't play well, I'm always going to play my hardest."

Other than Dwight Howard, who finished with 26 points and 15 rebounds, no one played well in the Magic's second consecutive loss coming out of the All-Star break. And even he wasn't blameless, since he was guilty of six of their 22 turnovers.

"There's not a whole lot of talking that needs to be said," Grant Hill said. "We got embarrassed. It's one thing to lose, but to lose and be down 20 (points) in the first half . . . We've got to show some fight. And I believe we will."

Hill wasn't much of a factor in his first two games back from a sprained right knee, which he said was partly due to a cumbersome brace he was wearing to protect the knee. He plans to go with a smaller brace tonight to allow him more mobility.

"I don't know how it looked on TV, but it feels big," he said.

Ariza, who was averaging 8.6 points in 23 minutes a game at the time of his injury, will also be outfitted with a brace. The news isn't quite so good with Tony Battie. The Magic's usual starter at power forward said he will be out for at least another seven to 10 days with a thumb injury.

"It's definitely been killing me just sitting on the sidelines not being able to play and contribute to my team," Ariza said. "But now I get a chance."</div>

Was Redick filling in for him? Or was it someone else? I cant remember. If it was Ariza, do you think Redick will still get the time he was getting?

Redick was getting time from Dooling, Grant Hill, and Ariza. I doubt he plays anything more than garbage time with Ariza now back.
