[IMG] and look who it's by [IMG] I actually thought it was the other guy, Parrish

You guys want to understand why I'm so pissed off that we lost? This is why. Because as soon as there's one single chink in Bucky's armor, we're no better than Northwestern in the collective mind of the national media, who influences most (regrettably) sports fans.

He manages to hate on everything about Wisconsin, Ohio State, the Big 10, a seriously injured Brian Butch, Alando Tucker ( [IMG] if today doesn't prove his importance to us...i.e, if he's off, we're screwed, I don't know what does), and he says KANSAS, you know, the team that has beaten Florida and NOBODY else, is the #1 team in the country. The game today was fugly, I'll admit, but this article is pure trash.

Greg Doyell can burn in hell

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The No. 1 team in the country was here Sunday. So was the No. 1 team in the country. Ohio State is ranked first by the coaches, second by the media. Wisconsin is ranked first by the media, second by the coaches.

You'd think that, one way or the other, the best team in college basketball was in the building Sunday.

    Good heavens, I hope not.

If the best team this 2007 season has to offer was at the Schottenstein Center on Sunday, college basketball needs to die and come back as something else. Perhaps rugby. Or hockey. Lacrosse? Anything but that la-schlock I saw Sunday.

Ohio State won 49-48 if it matters, which it does only in the Big Ten picture. The victory means the Buckeyes will win the conference title outright even if they lose their regular-season finale later this week at Michigan. With one game to play, Ohio State is two games ahead of Wisconsin, and months ahead of everyone else in the Big Ten.

But nationally? Ohio State cannot be the best team in America. Not the Ohio State team I saw Sunday. And that's taking into account the prehistoric tar pit Wisconsin coach Bo Ryan likes to throw on the floor, gunk meant to swallow a mastodon like Greg Oden.

To that end, it worked. Wisconsin can't score enough points to beat a team fair and square -- I equate offensive prowess with fair play ... sue me -- so the Badgers bogged down the athletically superior Buckeyes and kept this unwatchable game in the 40s, which was a shame considering the game was televised on CBS and not that rinky-dink, four-letter network that deserved a game like this more than my lovely company. </div>

Just ask Billy Donovan and Urban Meyer what they think of not so nice talk about their teams by the media. I'd rather fly under the radar then be in the national spotlight anyway. Hopefully Ryan will use the media as a great motivational tool like the 2 Gator coaches did. I remember in the Final 4 last year in a 30 minute segment about the team there were 5 mins of commercials 12 minutes of George Mason's Cinderella story, 8 minutes of how UCLA is back, 4 minutes of LSUand how they won the SEC and how they beat the mighty Dukies, and 1 minute of Joakim Noah's flamboyancy. (nothing to do with basketball whatsoever) Urban Meyer really should send Kirk Herbstreit a fruit basket or something.

Believe me man, the media not giving you any respect at all makes when you win that much more satisfying. Trust me, I know from experience twice, but especially football.

I actually wondered if they might be on the uptick now that we know Coble's a standout, and they've got a bunch of young guards.

I checked their roster and recruits for next year, and it turns out that they will have only one player who stands 6'8" or taller (Coble) and nobody who weighs more than 205 (Coble, and I think he's 205 when he gets out of the pool with a mascot suit on LOL). I dunno how they'll survive like that in the Big 10. I mean, they can shoot the 3 and that Princeton-style system helps, but man, I can't see a team winning more than 2 conference games with that little depth up front [IMG]

Sorry guys, after hearing how serious Butch's injury is, I've got to post this in the regular college forum.

Who needs height when you've got all that skill?

Either way, Jeff Ryan's about 6'8". I personally think they overlist him, because he just looks tall because he's so skinny, but still, there's two for ya'. [IMG]

BTW - Our recruiting isn't over. We're bringing in some big Euro dude (can't pronounce his name). I haven't met him or seen him play, but apparently he's massive.

Hell yeah! You gotta shoot me a PM before we come to Madison next year and maybe we'll hook up somewhere... that is, if we play you guys up there.... some years the schedules give the big names the tough road and they only play one game against us, Penn State, and Minny.
