<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Scottie Pippen continues to roam the periphery of the Lakers' radar, although there doesn't seem to be a dramatic sense of urgency to get to him.

"I'll probably do that when I get back after this weekend," Jackson said Sunday. "I'm sure there are other people out there that have needs like ours with their injuries and they know his experience. I know that he's looking to help a team that's a winning team. He didn't mention us [yet] but mentioned some teams that were poised to make a playoff run. I haven't heard from him."

Pippen recently declared his desire to end a three-year retirement, but the Lakers wanted to wait and see what happened at last Thursday's trade deadline.

Pippen, 41, averaged 5.9 points and 17.9 minutes in 23 games with Chicago in 2003-04, his last pro season.</div>

I really don't know if we're going to sign him. McKie and Shammond have been playing good ball for us recently, there is no need to cut either one. Can Pippen bring more than either one of them?

The think the Lakers will definitely sign Pippen. I just started reading The Last Season a couple days ago and already you can tell how much Phil loves Scottie.

He said that Scottie was the smartest defensive player he has ever coached and often times he would call a player over to the bench and ask why he made a defensive adjustment and they'd say, "Scottie sent me."

Jackson also talks about how he has pursued Pippen every single time he has been available. He mentions when Houston was trying to unload Pippen's big contract and how he begged Buss to take him in. Buss said no because it would put them over the cap and would force the Lakers to pay a luxury tax. He also talks about how he told Mitch that they had to pursue him for the 2003 season but they weren't able to sign him with the amount of money they had.

Moral of the story? Phil loves Scottie and has always pursued him before. I don't think that will change and I see Pippen donning purple and gold sometime this season.

If that is the case, then my feelings about Aaron McKie and Shammond Williams getting some PT was right. I said the club was evaluating which one should be cut and honestly, I think Shamu might get the short end of the stick. With the way that McKie's been defending the pick and roll, I don't see why we'd cut him.

I don't like Shamus game. IMO, he should be cut.
