So, to say the least, these last few days have been pure, utter crap. Here in east central Iowa, I was one of the unfortunate 125,000+ Alliant Energy customers (total I think was over 200,000) to lose power. Not only did I lose it, I lost from 3pm Saturday to noon Monday. All because of this crap weather we had over the weekend. Beyond not having power in my own house, the gas station I work at lost power around the same time, so I got the joy of taking all the perishable stuff (milk, sandwiches, etc), stocking it in totes, and lugging it outside. What's even better is that we're a 24 hour store, and we closed. So, I got the joy of being bitched at by customers that wanted gas and crap and couldn't get it, and appaerntly were too damn lazy to drive down the street to any of the three other gas stations on that road that HAD power. Both of our registers went down, our gas pumps shut down, our cooler shut down, our backroom went black, etc. And then what makes Saturday even better is the fact that I got the wonderful joy of driving home in a freaking blizzard. Before that even happened though, I had to stand outside for 20minutes chizzeling ice that was over a half inch thick off the windows and doors of my car. Thankfully though, we were able to stay at my uncles last night, otherwise, I'd have gone insane. Our house was down to 55 degrees when we left last night, and when I came back today to check to see if power was on, it was all the way down to 49. So, to say the least, this whole experience makes me appreciate having electricity even more.
Sorry to hear that man, I understand how much having no power sucks, we have very crappy power providers where we live, it goes out almost every time there is a storm or heavy rain. While you had a bad weekend, I had a good one, I was awake for 76 of 96 hours of it, hehehehehe.
You have the great ability to project the images of your atrocious weekend into my mind (through your prose).
I've had it even worse. But I don't think I want to bring that up again. Just to let you know, my weekend sucked too.
