This is a big game tonight. Right now the Hornets are losing @ Cleveland at the half, Minnesota is playing Dallas, Shaun Livingston is done for the season, and the Bucks are a team the Warriors need to beat and should be able to beat. The Warriors I think can really make some good progress tonight if the Hornets continue to lose in Cleveland and I don't think Dallas ever loses, so... There is some optimism I suppose, hah. Also JRich is starting, which is good.

I just found out that Jackson is out because of a broken toe and that bynum step on his toe? Oh well at least he lucked out, he could have gotten a possible career ending injury like Shaun Livingston.

lol at Barnes -- comes into the game and immediately gets completely lost on the first play, gets ditched by Redd who is wide open and has all day to drain the three. It was like Barnes was still trying to shake off that pre-game bong rip or something. Sad

What the heck happened to Biedrins? The only fantasy value I got out of this game was Ellis (but he had the same amount of assists as Biedrins, a center). He did get close to what Marbury averages going to the foul line which was good. Oh and Reuben Patterson did well again for me. A nice rotisserie of high % fg, scoring, rebounds, steals, and assists.

I love fantasy ball. It's the only basketball that I care about that actually gets to the playoffs every year.

Fantasy ball won't always tell you much about the game, CR2. Beans was very active the whole night, boxing out Bogut, Vilanueva and Patterson so other guys could get the boards. He was a presence inside, but unfortunately no one has his back. As we all know, Harrington is not fit for that role at PF. Thus, they got pushed around inside.

It's like when Beans would have 4 pts 5 reb, and Murphy would get a double double, and yet Beans was twice the player Murphy was... stats don't always tell the story.

To my delight, however, Nellie actually played Powell and Beans together for the first time this year!! It's like he's been reading the forum (you know he has). Didn't matter much but I liked the idea. My beef was he left Harrington in there at the three, so then they were a little too slow. I would have liked:

    Monta
    Az
    JRich
    Powell
    Beans

undersized at the guards but still good rebounding, and quick. That would be nice to see.

    Fugly.

On the bright side, we have the same amount of losses as the Sacramento Kings now with the help of a three game losing streak.

Here's what John Hollinger had to say about the Warriors as he put them 7th worst in terms of power rankings:
"The Warriors need to make up their minds. Either put it in the tank to get a good pick or put a string of wins together to get in the playoffs. These barely sub .500 seasons aren't helping anyone."

WORST TIER: Boston, Memphis, Philly and Milwaukee.

SECOND WORST TIER: Atlanta, Charlotte, Seattle, Portland and Sacramento.

TWEENERS: Golden State, Minnesota, New Jersey and NO/OKC.

If Nelly was reading the forum he would have seen me super pessimistic about all this ideas regarding Dunleavy at PF, Murphy at C and also Harrington at PF or SF. Dude, Harrington just sucks at starter. He ain't going to be crap unless he scores.

And I've been saying it to anyone who would listen that the Warriors would not make the playoffs just because of Don Nelson. There's only a few teams that play small ball well and we don't have the ingredients. We don't have the ingredients to play big ball and we don't have the ingredients to play small ball. And even if we make a successful small ball team, I don't think that style is good enough to get passed the first round of the playoffs. So in essence, if we repeat the success of Run TMC it still means no championship and more style over substance.

Maybe that is the nature of basketball where you have to have the right pieces or you can't expect to go very far. There's really no wild card team that suddenly wins everything. It's also especially difficult realizing since basketball is a young person's game, they don't have long before their time is over. Plus, player movement is very slow and the nba readiness for new players coming in is bad and the brief period of time before somebody retires due to injury or age, is a lot worse than other sports.

I'm starting to lose my faith in nba basketball. I may just transition over to college ball where there's more teams and upsets happen all the time and there's no money or players overruling coaches.

I totally called tank in the beginning of the year regardless of Nelson. And then when we had the same record as last season with slowball Montgomery, I figured we wouldn't go very far Jrich or not. I knew it wasn't just the coach, that was the problem it starts at the very top and I think this is obvious to some, but maybe not to others who just see game to game decision making where the coach can't do anything because his players aren't very good by themselves or as a team.

We take into consideration, few people can play defense and rebound all at once at the big positions.

We take into consideration that few guys can actually make plays for others rather than just themselves.

We take into consideration that few players actually can hit free throws, which should be the most fundamental aspect of the game if you're a shooter or even a guard sized scorer.

We take into consideration that very few players can actually finish going inside. Baron, Jackson, Harrington, all those other guys are just horrible. Baron is not worth it if he keeps getting injured every single year and doesn't give us the edge we need to keep us in an 8th seed position.

It's just too many flaws same as last year. It's what I've been trying to tell most of you guys who wouldn't listen, but you know it ain't about who is right or who is wrong, it's about exploring all the predictions and possible outcomes of this franchise. It's just about discussing basketball. But man people wondering why I was so bitter about last offseason, was because nothing happened to improve this team! I don't care if we got Nelly, it ain't going to fix things right away. And if good things happen because of Nelly taking an active part in general management decisions, why the heck do we even need Chris Mullin or Rod Higgins or other idiots like them that don't know what the hell to do when they've been first handed a virtually clean salary book. You know, these guys pick the wrong timing and they do the ass backwards thing where they start spending when they don't even know what they have yet. They don't leave space or flexibilty to improve if something ain't working like they project it would. They have no backup plan or hell even a philosphy or vision. We wonder why the pieces don't fit, it's because they have no vision or they have a streaky judge of talent. They spent all their crap in one place and it just catches up with the franchise and it's hard for people to believe that "next year really could be the year...."

That has been my biggest gripe regarding an organization that I feel just doesn't care about the product it's giving to its fans. It's like what NBA Live does to his customers. They repackage the same crap with even more problems and they keep ruining what was tolerable. They just care about dunks, high light reels, and PR and a supposedly Great Time Out! But do nothing to fix what the Warriors have had problems with in the past. Which was their defense, their ability to work as a team, and their ability to scout out good big men. We're not talking all-star big men, but good enough to actually hang in there and produce defensively and sometimes offensively.

F those bozos, I say. I'm just sick of the lack of results and we've been telling ourselves every single season, it's bound to get better. How much better? I want to see a kickass team produced to make up for the last several decades where the W's didn't accomplish anything but building a new stadium. Oh and the setting new embarassing lows like 2 point 4th quarter, all those career highs we gave to marginal role playing forwards on the other team, and picking the stupid picks in the draft when we had a top 3.

I'm just so frustrated. It's like with our government and people saying all these things will happen in the Iraq War if the government doesn't start listening to what guys who know are saying. Then the prediction becomes true because those people who know get ignored. And it's like dammit... Who are these idiots in a positon of power totally losing touch with what's going on? Rumsfeld, Bush, etc. Damn. I believe in the War on Terror like I do believe in the Warriors trying to make the playoffs/get a ring, but the way these guys go about trying to reach that objective is absolutely dreadful IMO.

I'm just glad I'm not the only one who thinks this way. But I'm probably one of the few that actually frequents the Warriors forums still. I bet most have given up because it's not worth the heartbreak or frustration.

Yeah, I think the continual letdown often makes many fans who wanted to believe in this franchise, almost feel foolish or just feeling miserable because the team they love is associated with constant failure.

But I think these guys are just amateurs and if they get the right people in charge from top to bottom, we no longer have to deal with this Mickey Mouse BS. If Mullin wasn't a famous ex-Warrior, he wouldn't be a GM right now. That is for certain.

And since he is one of the big guys in charge, guess who he hires? The right people? No. His friends.

And who hired Mullin? Cohan and Rowell? Those guys are definitely constants in why this club sucks. It wasn't Mullin, but it was guys Cohan and Rowell that make decisions to get guys that aren't qualified to turn this club in the right direction in the reasonable amount of time. It's just one setback after another. And I don't think it's luck based or it has to do with the conference necessarily. The guys planning these things are just screwing up.

If I was Nellie, here is what I would say you.

CR2, I like that idea about playing JRich instead of Al Harrington at SF. Why didn't I think of it? Lordy, I'm a dumb bastard.

Hey, I'll have to try that next time -- AB, Josh Powell and JRich. AL can come off the bench, he's very versatile. When he isn't versitile, he's taking way too many shots and not making them. He can't jump too high and block out to get rebounds some times. What a dumb bastard.

And I want Pietrus to slash more, so moving him over to SG should help. Hell, he takes too many 3s as is. He can't dribble except in a straight line. He's another dumb bastard.

Sarunas, Barnes and Cheesecakes. They can't play for me. They're all dumb bastards!

And Foyle, I have to look at him on the bench when I don't have an answer on the court. I can't play him! He's a smart bastard, but a dumb bastard on the court.

Oh CR2, and before you lose hope in NBA basketball and before I go, I want to let you know CR2, that I'm the coach of the Warriors. I'm the second winningest coach in the HISTORY of the NBA. That's not too shabby, so I think I know a thing or two. And you, even though you know a lot about basketball, well, you're just a dumb bastard [IMG].

Well if Nelson is so great as a front office guy, I don't see why we have to keep Higgins and Mullin around.

There might as well be a coup de tat that installs his son Donnie Nelson in there to do the thinktank work. Plus, we figure with Nelly's age, he's probably not going to be around forever health wise. Then we're back to square one if he retires or if small ball takes off and we get our butts kicked by bigger teams. I mean Don Nelson is good for regular season ball, but his brand of play doesn't win championships because there's no balanced "defensive" attack.

I'm sorry if I'm pessimistic but I don't have much faith in small ball as a long term solution or the Warriors at this point. I'm a big fan of the balanced attack, not the unbalanced one where we get our butts kicked entirely because our one-sided attack fails to do any damage or the other team exploits the crap out of our huge flaws and we have no answer.

If Nelly is calling us dumb bastards, heck I concede because I'm a Warrior fan. As Warrior fans... we're all a bit of dumb bastards, actually. I'm just not dumb bastard enough to believe in instant playoffs because of a coach change while quite a few were saying sixth, seventh, or eighth seed.

You know I was feeling fine and not angry, but then I tried to find game recaps and then I saw this...

    http://www.nba.com/warriors/warriors_intro.html

Goddamnit, you guys! Stop trying to peddle this crap you call basketball everytime I try to visit the website. I hate that. It's worse than spam or annoying popup banners. Until they fix their joke of a franchise, I ain't going to do anything for them. They screwed us fans long enough where I'm just watching the TV instead of going to games.

I said 8th seed, and hell it's still possible. I mean, why are we Warriors fans, anyways? No really, why are you a fan? Why am I a fan? Personally, it's because I want to see the team win. And honestly, entering this season, I thought 8th seed. Beans coming into his own, Monta emerging, finally JRich + Baron together and healthy, heck we even moved Fisher in the off-season and you KNOW you loved that... I think any decent fan had EVERY RIGHT to believe in the 8th seed this year.

It sucked that Murphy got injured, and JRich got injured, and Baron got injured....but dude -- look at HOW MUCH Biedrins and Monta have given this team -- none of us could have guaranteed that, even though we all loved their potential. Guys, these two players are CASHING IN on that potential. It is now TALENT.

I mean, we NEVER got to see a healthy starting line-up, the way Nellie had envisioned it. This team has relied on nobodies like Barnes and Azibuikie at times to help them win games. They've played with 8 man rosters and relied on Andris Biedrins to be the heart and soul inside.

Then, midseason, just when we needed to come together, boom! it's a huge trade to bring in new guys. The trade needed to happen, fellas. It sucks that wedidn't get Gasol in return, but would you rather be saddled with Dunleavy and Murphy for the next several years? NO!

Now, it's a huge mess, the chemistry is stagnant, Baron is injured, Monta is being FORCED into the PG role in a crisis, JRich is trying to re-establish himself, I mean... this is the time when good teams should be cranking it up a notch, not simply trying to figure out their identity.

Yeah, it sucks BIG TIME the way things have unravelled this year, but at the beginning of the season, things were looking bright, IMO, and the 8th seed wasn't only realistic, it was probable, especially with the way Monta and Beans have exploded onto the scene.

What's more, the 8th seed is still possible, though VERY unlikely.

Maybe if they to go to Oz and find some defense then they will make the playoffs this season...
Mike Miller going bananas on this team and now the Bucks going lights out from the field is just blatant examples of some big defensive problems.

It seems that there must be some power forwards that Nellie could play at the PF spot that can rebound and run an offense, right? The TMC thing was before my time, but I tend to remember the other positions rebounding better than their opponents and that would make up for the lack of rebounding in the front court. Would Nellie blame our lack of rebounding on Harrington, or on Baron/Jrich/Jackson, etc? We've been playing Ellis so much and he's all scrawy as heck and he still jumps in there. I get so pissed when I see guys leaking out before the ball even is more than half way in the air. We have issues that are rebounding and perimeter defense. Wouldn't we change our style to alter those issues, like keeping more guys in for the def. rebound, or switching away from zone, I thought that's what we got jackson/Harrington for, was so we could play more man, that seemed to work as far as getting those 3P% down below 40% at least.

Maybe it's just rotten luck because it doesn't make sense that these issues would be significant even when we take into account weaknesses. I mean, we are by far first in opponent's 3PT attempted, and take away the suns, and teams have made 200 more threes on us then anyone else. I don't see how that could be due to our players as a unit because they are so athletic. I mean, come on, 50% from three, that's happened at least 10 games for us. Most teams couldn't do that without any defenders. We certainly couldn't.
