Maxwell re-launched after a brief moment of silence, saying ?Go in there and make me some bacon and eggs, would you??</div> http://business.bostonherald.com/businessN...rticleid=185385
You guys obviously didn't get to hear the context of which he said that statement. It was basically said in a joking fashion and he didn't mean anything by it. If you're unfamiliar with his broadcasting style, then I understand you might take what he said as hate speech or whatever, but considering the fact that it's from the same guy who screams "QUACK! QUACK!" whenever the Celtics make a great play then I can't take anything he says seriously enough to consider this as anything more than a joke that went a little too far.

I prefer Vernon Maxwell. Though, I also find his comments humerous. Our society is way too sensitive nowadays.
I think it was funny but he shouldn't have said it and a public apology is probably the way to go.. no matter how funny he acts on air he should still be professional about it

<div class="quote_poster">MrJ Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">If he said something racist in jest, do you think he would have to appologize?</div> Depends on the context of course. In this particular case, people shouldn't sodomize the guy over what happened.

<div class="quote_poster">MrJ Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">If he said something racist in jest, do you think he would have to appologize?</div> maybe. and if my aunt were a man she might be my uncle. it really depends on the situation. the only way it would have been completely analogous to this situation would be if he said something racist in parody of someone else because the so-called "sexist" remark was only made in mocking reference to Tommy Heinson. if that were the case...oh heck, whats the point. that wasnt the case so who knows whether he WOULD HAVE had to apologize or not.
LMAO...I was at the game and that female ref is HORRIBLE.....and it's not the first game that I've seen her officiate this year....she will never get a big time game, because she IS that bad....I really can get mad at Cedric, because we chanted "you're a man" and "hermaphradite" whenever she blew her whistle for no apparent reason....
I'm sorry but I chuckled when I read it. I think the NBA would be more entertaining if there was more trash talking, agree with it or not. Where I play ball we all make jokes and talk smack it makes the game more interesting. ( but I did lead my team in techincal fouls )
the WNBA is one big sexist joke...I mean seriously I can't accout for the number of times I've heard jokes aimed at the "lameness" of that league and that's from males AND females....
