Do you think we could get Billups or Lewis??? maybe offer DET the same package we gave for kidd then offer odom for lewis
The Lakers don't even have the cap space to sign most of the guys you put in bold. They should focus on going after 2nd tier underrated FA's like DeShawn Stevenson (good perimeter defender), Charlie Bell (versatile, good shooter), Danny Fortson (rebounding, enforcer) etc. I think any of these guys would help the Lakers next season. If the Lakers could lure Steve Blake to LA, then that would be perfect for them IMO.
I agree. We don't need a big name player, we need great role players. DeShawn Stevenson (MLE), Steve Blake, and Danny Fortson are ideal players I'd like to see on the team.
I'm with Mamba. However, I'd like to see us add another shooter. At the moment, we really don't have any outside of Kobe. Radman was going to be ours, but he's struggled all season. I'd love to see us add a guy like Kapono that can stretch the defense some more.
I don't think Miami will let Kapono walk, they'll do everything capable to resign him. I'd love to get Charlie Bell. A lot of Laker fans and media have an obsession with having to acquire a big name player or whatever, which is a joke. I'd take a team with great role players such as Blake, Bell, Stevenson, Fortson over a team that's star filled, but struggling to get chemistry going. Although, I will admit...if we could get Billups...that'd be amazing. We don't have a shot, though so I'm not even going to fantasize about that deal.
I still would absolutsely love to see G-Force, 'Shard or Mr. Big Shot in our team. Billups would be deadly. Eddie House is hell of a shooter, at least as much as I saw his games in Phoenix. Mat Carrol seems solid, too. Also guys like Flip Murrary (he was pretty dope in Cavs last year), Bonzi is starting to play normal games in Houston now, Steve Blake has played some good games in Denver. Charlie Bell seems a good choice also. Guys, what about Mo Pete ? This guy was good in Toronto last year. He is more than a solid defender also and can shoot the three pretty easily. Atleast, I like him.
How would we be able to acquire them? We don't have the pieces to S&T. All of these big name players are pipe dreams. We need to put down the pipe and get realistic here.
Recently i've been open to the fact that the lakers might indeed trade lamar... so i think we have a shot at Lewis or maybe a Big-time PF like KG, JO or Gasol coz everyone is interested in Lamar... But if i were to pick a Role player i'd like Chris Wilcox, Blake or Mo Williams
<div class="quote_poster">Mamba Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">I'd love to try and acquire JO, but would Indy even consider a package of Lamar and who, Kwame?</div> I doubt it, that trade doesn't improve them at all, and at best puts them in the exact same situation they are in right now.
Exactly. We don't have the peices to acquire a big name player, we wasted all of our expiring contracts, so those are useless. Getting a big time player won't help us at all if we don't improve our defense, rebounding, and help around Kobe. That can easily be done if we bring in the right role players. We need perimeter defense (DeShawn), an enforcer/rebounder (Fortson), and a PG (Mo Williams, Blake). Any of these playes shouldn't be that hard to acquire, we've got enough talent to S&T for most of them, if not all.
What about Jamal Magloire or Darko ? Well, I'm pretty sure that Orlando will re-sign him, unfortunatelly. But Magloire ? Primoz Brezec ?
I think Mo Pete would be good for you guys, only if Odom got traded. He would be cheaper than Odom, is a better 3pt shooter, a better perimeter defender. Although doesn't slash enough to the basket (but Kobe getting him open looks would help). Odom is a better rebounder, has more length to disturb opposing players, and is more capable of being a post player.
You can't compare Odom and Peterson, absolutely different type of players. A team needs Odom to rebound, post up and hit the three and medium range shot decently. Mo Pete is just a more-than-solid perimeter defender and shooter, nothing more. Odom is a SF/PF type of player, Mo Pete is a SG/SF.

I don't see why they can't be compared, as both you and I have just compared them in our last two posts. I think to say "Mo Pete is just a more-than-solid perimeter defender and shooter, nothing more." is an understatement. He is capable of slashing, but tends to get stagnant by sitting by the 3 point line, but from what I've heard that Odom does that too. Except Mo Pete is the better 3 point shooter. However Odom can slide over to the PF, which the Lakers definitely need in their difficulties with injuries. I wouldn't sign Mo Pete unless Odom was traded to acquire a more post player PF. Overall player value, Odom > Mo Pete.
Lol, but one of them is a great player when he is in a rhtyhm and capable of being an all-star. Morris Peterson won't be nothing more than a good role player, imo.
I'd be happy if we traded odom for someone or just to free up cap space and be able to acquire [mo williams and wilcox] or [blake, wilcox and de shawn] or even [Rashard plus 1 role player]
