<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Allen Iverson has been in Denver just 2 1/2 months. He already knows he'd like to re-sign in 2 1/2 years. "I want to be here," the Nuggets guard said Sunday. "I want to finish my career right here." Iverson, 31, admits he's disappointed with Denver's play since his Dec. 19 acquisition from Philadelphia. But he believes the future remains bright. Iverson is under contract next season for $19 million and indicated he has no plans to opt out of the $20.8 million he's due in 2008-09. When the summer of 2009 arrives, Iverson is hopeful of re-signing. "I would love to do that," Iverson said. "Hopefully, that's the way it will work."</div> Source
It's great he's gonna stay. Now if only we can find a team to trade DerMarr Johnson and Reggie Evans to. Neither are getting any playing time anymore. Either that or we need a new coach.
Hmm..... I remember hearing this before, except the story was "I want to spend my career in Philadelphia".

Allen STILL says that to this day, you can tell he was bitter about having to be traded in the first place. Billy King handled the entire thing improperly and he should be fired. I honestly think it's his fault AI didn't retire a 76er because he was pretty loyal to the franchise. As far as him ending his career in Denver, it's possible, they have something to build on for the future to.

I dunno about Johnson, but I think Evans should stay and while I can't see games, still think he should be playing ahead of Najera.
I think AI is saying this in part to win fans over in Denver. I also like to think he really enjoys playing with Melo, winning or not. I was thinking the same thing the instant I saw this thread's title, "he's said that kinda **** before..".
All I have to say is, good luck in Denver, A.I. .... there is a potentially well off future for the Nuggets. Question is, will the proper steps be taken and properly executed for the Nuggets have this bright future.
Need a new coach? No way. George Karl has done a great job with the Nuggets. Plus, AI has been known to say alot of things. I wouldn't be surprised if Denver doesn't make a serious playoff run this year or next year, that he'll sign somewhere else.

Anyway, if his contract runs out and the Nuggets are not a top three team out west he will leave.
He should leave if the Nuggets aren't a top three team in the west. Iverson wants to win, and he deserves to win a championship before his career is over.

What I meant was, if Karl stays, those two should be traded, because Karl with his cynical thinking can not find a use for them and he thinks they do more harm than good. If Karl goes, I was thinking that I'd keep either one or both unless it was necessary to trade either one or both to get a more veteran G-F who plays defense and who can make 3-point shots. Evans is the perfect player to put in when you are leading late and you want to deny second chance shots. With Johnson, it mostly depends on whether his 3-point shot returns or not. I was thinking back in February and before then that the Nuggets needed a G-F, but that was before Kleiza was playing great, so now I'm not so sure the Nuggets need a G-F. If Kleiza is going to play this well, keep him and maybe try to get a good SG to back up J.R. Smith.
