I never realized until now how much Artest looks like Arrest. But anyway, if there's any truth to this, the NBA should intervene and hand down a suspension or fine of some sort, because you know the law is going to let him buy his way out of trouble. Violence towards women is about as low as you can get though, especially when you're as huge of a guy as Ron Artest is, and it seems like athletes, basketball players especially, have exhibited an abnormal amount lot of domestic abuse in these past few years.
IIRC Ron Artest is on probation still from the Detroit Brawl. This would violate the terms of his probation, which should result in jail time. He's already done a lot of damage to the image of the NBA. The image is something David Stern holds sacred and if Artest is guilty, I can see him being banned from the league or blacklisted by the owners once his current deal ends.
<u>IF</u> Artest is guilty here (I say if because I've been especially critical of Ragin' Ronnie, and I don't want to sand-blast him before we know the facts), he should absolutely be kicked out of the league. I realize that I've harped on this point, but I still think it's been forgotten too quickly. Ron Artest was the instigator in the worst moment in the history of professional sports in America. He's the lowest of the low. This man stained his league like nobody but Pete Rose has ever done, yet he appears to have learned nothing from his actions and punishments. He's said in interviews that he can see himself doing something as bad as the Detroit incident again. Why? Because he's a self-described 'ghetto' person. I don't care what you describe yourself as: if you can't figure out how to behave after all that Artest has been through, you're never going to figure it out, so you may as well just be thrown in jail because you're proof that natural selection is alive and well. And beating a woman is just about the worst thing that a man can do. So we would have a guy who is responsible for worst moment in NBA history, responsible for a crime against a woman, and responsible for crimes against his pets. I'm not sure how you guys see Artest, but that's a guaranteed blueprint for a person who has failed in every aspect of life.

His probation ended not too long ago, so he's not in violation of it. My question is, what kind of probation allows you to travel all across America and play basketball? That's the kind of probation I want to be offered if I'm ever convicted of a crime.

<div class="quote_poster">Voodoo Child Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">I never realized until now how much Artest looks like Arrest. </div> I am surprised I didn't put Artest Artested.
artest allways keeps it TOO real, allways does stupid things, and is insane and needs to be evaluated, is this guy mentally stable to be a professionable basketball player? its funny how little kids look up to him thinking he's "Gangsta" or some **** like that, the guys a nut case, why would you slap a woman if your not a pimp? Why Artest, Why? artest kind of skipped evolution abit dont you think, i mean he's just like a caveman, lol what a dickhead, i actually find this absolutely hilarious, i feel sorry for the woman, but artest just doesnt know when to quit, i hope he gets kicked out of the nba, he gives it a really bad name.
I think that there is something more to this one. I heard the 911 tapes this morning on the news and quite honestly... the person that was "abused" called in because he was taking off in a car that was in both of their names. It wasnt until the 911 operator asked if he hit her that she suddenly started with the domestic violence talk. kinda suspcous to me. The only thing that the cops were able to say to the media regarding the abuse alligation is that artest did admit that he "slapped her hand" in order to keep her from callng 911, but that doesnt sound much like abuse to me.
I remember posting in a thread about Artest`s trade to Sac., and how I thought it would be a new beginning for Ron Ron. But wow. It just doesn`t end with this guy does it. It`s ashame too, hes a great player.
He hasnt been found guilty has he? Exactly, which is the reason hes being allowed to resume playing for the kings. People are talking about this like it already went to trial and artest was found guilty.
