Damn, posts in this thread can really aggrevate you. Arenas? Pierce? Carmelo and AI? No one said Jermaine O'Neal. I use to like this guy, but until a recent article I think he's a punk who think's he's got everybody down. <div class="quote_poster">huevonkiller Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">I bet a large group of kids here hate a baller for stupid reasons. Two incidents have given him a reputation he'll never be able to shake but I've never heard anything but compliments about him from teammates and coaches. People already have their minds made up.

And his negative traits are blown way out of proportion by the media.

Not superstars but two players that come to mind are Ricky Davis for shooting on his own basket to try to get a triple double and Nate Robinson bouncing the ball to himself. I hate selfish players.

He also knows how to market himself: "gonna score 50 against Portland," The one hand shootout against Stevenson, between the leg dunk ... Saying I'm gonna score 50 against Portland and ending up scoring 9 against them is somewhat idiotic, no?

He uses that as motivation, c'mon .. think about it. When you're playing 18 minutes a game, you don't try that stuff. Whenever I see him play he tries to take the whole game over by himself. BTW: Why do you feel the need to defend every single Knick player whenever anyone says anything remotely negative about them? I just thinking "ballhogging" is the wrong term. Because, technically, Nash hogs the ball more than anyone. Just not in a bad way.
How one can sit here and defend Marbury is beyond me. The guy is a terrible team player. Every team he has gone too has absolutely sucked. He ruined the Suns, Nets, and Knicks (well, the Knicks suck in general). He's not a team player and individually, I don't think he's on the level of Billups, Arenas, Paul, Deron Williams, Baron Davis (arguable), J Rich, Marion, etc. Just because Marbury does good for his community doesn't mean jack, wasn't he too selfish to help his cousin when he needed help?
Lebron James, Kobe Bryant, Tracy McGrady, Shaquille O'Neal, Carmelo Anthony, Tony Parker, Steve Francis (though not much of a superstar anymore), and plenty more. Those are at the top of my list though.

You just said he was selfish because he missed on a flashy dunk, which isn't true. Almost every player, regardless of status (star, 6th man, 12th man, etc.) gets flashy sometimes and don?t convert. And in the beginning of the season Nate was playing meaningful minutes. Often times the Knicks would feed off of flashy plays and make runs. That?s not a selfish play?just a thoughtless one. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">BTW: Why do you feel the need to defend every single Knick player whenever anyone says anything remotely negative about them?</div> The only player which I?ve defended was Stephon Marbury. My quote clearly states: <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">It's not like I don't like Steve Nash as person or as a player, I just don't like all the hype surrounding him.</div> You?re right. Nash has helped me take a number of people?s money in NBA 2K2 to 2K4. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Wasn't Marbury overhyped coming out of college and highschool? His first year in New Jersey was an adjustment, but after the Nets? poor start, the Nets were around .500 their last 60 or so games. The next season here was the story: Van Horn broke his ankle and missed 33 games, Kenyon Martin had a bad knee and missed 14 games, Kerry Kittles missed the entire season, Kendall Gill missed 51 games, and Marbury himself missed 15 games. The very next season the Nets acquired Richard Jefferson, Jason Collins, Todd MacChulloch, and their players for the most part were healthy. In Phoenix, Marbury started the season without Clifford Robinson, Tony Delk, and Rodney Rogers who combined for 40.6 points. All three of those players played with Jason Kidd the previous year. It must also be mentioned that the Suns? didn?t have a legit center, which is very important playing in the West. The following year, after acquiring Stoudemire, the Suns made the playoffs and took the NBA champion Spurs to 6 games. The next year Marbury was traded as of January 5, so his tenure in Phoenix that year should be negated. When he went to New York the Knicks did well that year, but Isiah continued to make all types of changes, which disrupted chemistry. From 03-04 to the present, Marbury has had 7 coaches and has played with at least 20 different players. That?s poor management he?s just been surrounded with, which isn?t his fault. I haven?t noticed an ?attitude? from Marbury. He has clashed with many players before, but that?s just a result from all the losing. Keith Van Horn and Marbury left New York on good terms. In fact, Van Horn said ?I had my best season playing under Steph.? Quentin Richardson and Marbury had some problems last year, but that was just a result of the losing. Everyone had issues with each other, but Marbury?s problems were just heavily scrutinized because he?s the media?s scapegoat. Q and Marbury are on good terms now.? Answer me this: how is Kobe ? your favorite player ? more of a team player than Marbury? Players and coaches alike have criticized him for being selfish, egotistical, etc. After Shaq?s departure, which Kobe definitely contributed to, the Lakers have been decent at best. Kobe was also charged with a felony and cheated on his wife. Is defending Kobe "beyond you" too? Marbury and Kobe both have many unlikable traits, but too bad Kobe isn?t an option. Great job in sticking up for your favorite player! Secondly, how is Jason Richardson, who is currently averaging 14.1 points on 39.5% shooting, 31.5% from downtown, on a whopping 14 shots per game, better than Marbury? I think you probably want to rethink that, buddy. The rest of the players you named are all-stars and all-star caliber players, so it?s not a bad thing to say Marbury isn?t better than them. And about the Telfair/Marbury ?issue?, Marbury has his own needs: he has two parents, I believe six or seven siblings, a wife, children, nieces, nephews, etc. He has his own financial needs and he did provide some financial support for Telfair, who would soon be signed to a $30-million dollar Addidas contract. The two remain on good terms. And saying it doesn?t mean jack Marbury does good for his community is downright silly. I don?t even think I?ll justify that statement with a response. <div class="quote_poster">Quoting Pakman Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">It is, but he has proven himself as a superstar in the NBA.</div> I agree. I just don't see how NTC thinks Arenas isn't an idiot and Marbury is.
