<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Chauncey Billups would be receptive to the idea of a sign-and-trade deal that could land him with the Nuggets, according to agent Andy Miller. In order for the Nuggets to complete such a deal, they would have to deal Marcus Camby or forward Nene. Billups and Vince Carter will be the two most coveted free agents this summer. "Vince Carter is an exciting player. I can't do all the high-wire stuff he does. That's not my game. He can get 30 points in his sleep. He's the sexy player on the free-agent market," Billups said. "But, if you ask me, the two most important positions in basketball are center and point guard. When you've got a chance to get one of the best point guards in the league, I hope some people will take a look at that."</div> Source
Why would the Nuggets want to deal Camby for Billups? I've always thought (and I know termaine will back me up on this) that Camby is one of the best centers in the league. His defensive presence is invaluable. Big men win titles, not point guards. If the Nuggets want to be legitimate title contenders, they need to strengthen their bench and bulk up in the frontcourt, not keep adding backcourt players.
Camby is the most valuable player on this team after Melo and AI. When healthy, he's a top 3 C IMO. You definitely don't trade centers for point guards.
Man i would do that in a heart beat. Camby is one of the best centers in the game,,, but to miss a chance at having mr BIG SHOT on our team would be the greatest thing ever,, You guys complain about not having a legimate point guard.. were heres ur chance... I kno the rule states dont trade big for small. but We could get a legimate center somewhere else.. or move nene to center and Kmart to PF......... wat do u guys think....

Would Detroit take Nene? I wouldn't really like to lose him either, but Ca,by is way more valuable. If this deal did go down, the Nuggets could then trade Smith (and possibly Blake as well) for a good big man to back up centre. Having said that, I reckon Evans has shown that he is very good when given an extended run, so with Martin back next year, losing Nene to get Billups might not be such a bad move. Camby though...
That far too much money invested into a backcourt. If the Nuggets were thinking of doing a move like this, they wouldn't have traded for Iverson in the first place.
Billups, Iverson, and Melo would be pretty nasty. But the Nuggets need Camby more then they need a player like Chauncey.
They wouldn't be able to fit Chauncey in their formula, Denver needs to keep their current power players.

Denver needs to stick with the guys they have right now. Iverson and 'Melo are really starting to click lately. I don't see why the Nuggets would even consider trading Camby, he's a great center.
This might be a stupid suggestion, but what if they got this deal and did what Phoenix did a couple of years ago. Play (or at least start) Anthony as a power forward. He would be far too quick for the big forwards and could step out and get around them. Maybe even move Martin to centre (worked for another former all-star forward with knee problems who recently changed teams and moved to centre and now he's going great guns and his team is on fire).
