There's a lot of intriguing matchups list some you've noticed. - Durant v. Oden in the Final Four - Ben Howland v. his Alma Mater in Rnd 1 and his former team Pittsburgh in Rnd 2 - Thad Matta v. his former team Xavier - Texas v. USC the basketball version of Vince Young's Championship Game - Florida v. Ohio State this would be the basketball version of last year's NCAA Football Championship game List any observations or potential matchups you'd like to see.
Man, I would LOVE to see Texas and Ohio State make the final four. Durant vs. Oden in the final four? Doesn't get much better than that.
If Ohio State and BYU win their first round games, you'll see Danny Ainge in the crowd both scouting Greg Oden and cheering on his son.

I have a hard time seeing Texas getting to the Final Four. I don't want to doubt what any team led by Kevin Durant can do, but at the same time, I think that everyone is jumping on the Texas bandwagon just because of him and aren't taking into consideration the rest of the pieces that have to fall into place for a successful title run. Syracuse won it with Melo leading the way, but they also had guys like Hakim Warrick, Gerry McNamara, and Preston Shumpert on that team; Texas doesn't have that kind of supporting cast. Not only that, but they're in the toughest region of the bracket. To make it to the Final Four, not only will they have to go through North Carolina, but they'll have to meet up with either Wazzou or Georgetown as well. I'm not saying it's impossible, because I keep kicking around the idea of putting them in the Final Four, but the odds are stacked up against them. Hell, even their first round game against New Mexico State is a tough one. In my first "practice" bracket, I had New Mexico State upsetting them. Anyway, on topic, here's an interesting match-up to watch out for - #8 Marquette vs. #9 Michigan State - Former Tom Izzo Assistant Coach Tom Crean faces his mentor and best friend, Tom Izzo. They've made a pact not to schedule eachother during the regular season, so the selection committee took the liberty of pairing them up in this year's tourny.
Crean looks like a character out of Napolean Dynamite, both then and now! Guy's one hell of a coach, though. I'd just like to say that the only thing I'm hoping for is that Ohio State and Florida don't meet in the title game...again. I don't know how much more of that crap I can take LOL
