He looks for his shot before thinking about passing. Just like Marbury he has great vision, but his instincts tell him to shoot first. The problem is that he isn't as talented as Marbury, so his shoot-first method won't suit a lot of teams if any. Anybody else agree?
As I have watched him play, his game is very similar to Starbury's. Like the stuff you have just mentioned all makes sense. Williams is like a Marbury, without the ego.
In my opinion, Williams' game is closer to Kidd's with the exception of two things: Shooting and Defence. Williams is by far a better shooter than Kidd, while Kidd is by far the better defender. The reason that Williams shoots so much is due to the fact that he can hit his shots. Kidd would play the same way if he had a shot. What distinguishes Williams and Marbury is that Williams is able to keep a correct tempo in the game, almost as well as Kidd can keep the tempo.

But being the kind of player he is, he opts to pass first and shoot later. Williams' game is far from Kidd's. Sure he and Marbury shoots better. But a lot of players can shoot as well or even better. But they are not in the same class as Kidd is. Williams' game is closer to Marbury's. They both look for their shot first. And believe this. As soon as Williams take over the point after Kidd has gone, he will match Marbury's ego. They both may be better shooters than Kidd. But Jason Kidd is a far better player than both of them.

Williams is not a selfish player. He's just a better shooter. I also think that he's going through a bit of a typical rookie phase where every time he's on the court it's a chance to prove himself and get his name out there. When you're a rookie, every shot matters a lot more than it does when you're a veteran, so you're inclined to take a lot more shots. His defense will never be on Kidd's level though. Not even close, but I do see a lot of Kidd's playmaking ability in Williams, and a jumper that Kidd never had. That scoring ability doesn't make him like Marbury though. It just makes him like a young Kidd with a jumper.

Shooting is Kidd's greatest weakness. I've seen Williams play in person, he looks to pass the ball far more than Marbury. Williams simply takes the shots that Kidd would have put up had he had confidence in his shot. I think that Kidd's greatest offensive asset is being able to keep the team in the right tempo at the right time. You can't have a team run 100% for 48 minutes. Williams, in my opinion, has that same tempo instinct. Kidd's will always be better with out a doubt, but that does not lessen the arguement that Williams' offensive game is closer to Kidd's than Marbury's. Also, don't forget that half of Marbury's offense is exploding to the hoop (at least a few years ago). If any thing, Marbury's game is closer to Iverson's.

They want to be in the spotlight. As early as now, you can see it in Williams. He will have the path as Marburys. Sure Williams trying to prove himself, every rookie wants to. Kidd wanted to prove himself to as a rookie. And he did it without the notion of having to score to prove himself. Williams is not a young Kidd with a jumper. Williams is a young Marbury without the ego (at least not yet).
