<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> Terry Stotts was fired Wednesday as coach of the Milwaukee Bucks, who are struggling this season after injuries to key players.

An interim coach was not announced for Thursday night's against San Antonio, general manager Larry Harris said.

"Terry has done the best he could in a difficult situation, especially with all of our injuries," Harris said of his coach for less than two seasons. "I felt it was in the best interest of our organization to make the decision now and move forward, rather than wait until the end of the regular season."

The Bucks have dealt with a spate of injuries, including the loss of Michael Redd for 20 games as the team went 3-17 without him. The team is 23-41, last in the Central Division.

Stotts was hired as the team's ninth coach in history in June 2005 after Harris let Terry Porter go. Stotts was a favorite of owner Herb Kohl. The U.S. senator got to know the 13-year NBA veteran coach while Stotts was an assistant under then-Bucks coach George Karl.

Stotts and Harris made good on their promise to return to the playoffs in 2005-06, but the Bucks stumbled badly down the stretch and finished 40-42 with the eighth seed in the Eastern Conference.</div>

Wow, I just saw the news. I guess that last game just pushed the Harris over the edge. I know you guys never liked him as the coach, but firing now near the end of a season where injuries were all over the roster seems funny, no?

Congratulations, Schaddy. He wasn't even the Raptors coach, but this news made me feel happy.

So who would you want to replace him?

Yeah, it was only a matter of time before this was going to happen. I wonder how good this team would be if Redd was healthy all year.

Shout it from the roof tops! Perhaps the Bucks can get on a winning streak and actually give Bogut more chances on the offensive end.

Well, that's interesting. I defenitely want to see them bring in a coach who will slow the tempo enough to utilize Bogut - Stotts thought he was coaching the Suns. I don't have a problem with a team running some, but when you've got a kid as talented as Bogut in the post, you can't be taking a jumper 8 seconds into the shot clock. I also want a coach who will make the team play defense - Stotts NEVER did that. I've always said I wouldn't be opposed to Mike Fratello, because he's the teacher and defensive guru who could really have an effect on our youngsters. I think Rick Adelman would be a good fit from an offensive standpoint, but he could have the same drawbacks as Stotts [IMG] At least Adelman has the pedigree. I don't see that happening, though, as Herb Kohl is likely a bit wary of spending top dollar on a coach again after the George Karl experience didn't quite work out. Among assistant coaches who might be available, I think we should consider Phil Johnson from the Jazz or Brett Brown from the Spurs. Johnson has been in Utah with Jerry Sloan forever, and would bring the professional, stern hand that our young team could really flourish under. Brown coached in Australia for a few years and has been under Gregg Poppovich since - that means he's got experience with my ideal coach, and Bogut would probably enjoy having him around - plus he's a young option than Johnson. I know it may not be the most sexy proposition, but I also think the Bucks should at least take a look at Stan Van Gundy. Honestly, he's not a bad coach. He just wasn't better than Pat Riley LOL

I will say this about Stotts, to be nice. I don't think he's a rotten guy. He's not a jerk, and I think he really was trying to do his best for the Bucks. However, his ideal job would be assisting Mike D'Antoni or something, not directing his own team. I don't wish him ill, but I'm glad that he can no longer stunt the growth of the Bucks [IMG]

How about Rick Majerus? He's someone who knows how to use Bogut effectively.

Hell yeah, man! I seem to be in the distinct minority, but Majerus is [IMG] That could be a good deal - I'll go get a job as the Bucks' media liason, and I could just go to the bar and hear Rick filibuster about college ball after games [IMG]

I dunno if he'd be interested, and I'm always a bit unnerved by the idea of a college coach making the transition, but if Majerus wants the job, I would be fine with having him [IMG]

[IMG] I want no part of coaching an NBA team - I mean, I'd be like a bad college coach jumping to the Association. Plus I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be able to get an NBA team to play my way. It wouldn't be pretty [IMG] But I bet I'd do a better job of utilizing Bogut than 'Ol Terry did [IMG]
