This is an embarrassment for the Pac-10 with Stanford being blown out early in this game 46-17. Disgusting. Stanford has all the players you'd want to compete in the tournament, but lousing coaching has been their downfall all season. I should have trusted my gut and picked against the Stanford Cardinal.
How about the fact that the game is being playing in Lexington, Kentucky? I know that doesn't matter to the extent where it makes such a huge blowout excusable, but still, look up in the rafters and you'll see Rick Pitino's name hanging on a championship banner. The crowd is clearly 95% Louisville and 5% Stanford, and that does impact the momentum of the game. As soon as Louisville gets two or three straight baskets, the crowd really gets behind them, and that's got to be defeating for such a young Stanford squad.
I guess Stanford hasn't learned how to beat a press yet. I'm really embarrassed about picking them in this game. Should have known that Big East > Pac-10.
Yea I know I picked Stanford too as an upset, but I didnt have them going past the second round at least.
I also picked Stanford juts based on their size. I didn't realize that their guards were that bad at beating the press.
More points for me, so I'm happy. This game wasn't worth watching so I'm also glad I skipped it. Really sad to see a team get stomped like that in this type of tournament though. I'm looking forward to Memphis' game.
I didn't get to watch the game, but damn, I definitely did not expect to see UL beat them that bad! But you have to consider that Stanford was playing at what felt like 9:30 am to their bodies. Throw in Louisville's "home court" advantage, and it appears more and more like the Cards got a cupcake of sorts in their first-round game regardless of whether Stanford deserved to be in the tourney or not.
