    New York Daily News -
Steve Francis reportedly told several NBA players of the buyout talks with the Knicks and that he was hoping to sign with Houston, where he lives during the offseason.

Considering Francis' criticism of Jeff Van Gundy after being traded from Houston to Orlando three years ago, it is unlikely that the Rockets would have signed him.

Francis isn't a great PG. Maybe he could have helped, but I don't think he'd be a significant addition.

That would have been great, and I do think Houston would have signed Francis back.

Cut off 5 minutes from Head (that backup PG role he keeps try'na run) and 22 minutes of Rafers = 33 minutes for Francis as starting PG and 15 for Rafer as backup.

Or he could come off the bench for 15-20 minutes for scoring off the bench, or if Rafer's not playing well for once.

Can't NY still buy him out?

I don't think the question is can, but a question of will. The knicks arent going to do that now that they have a chance at the playoffs.

If that's true, then it's really a question of when.

I'd much rather have Cuttino back. Francis makes the most idiotic decisions of any player in NBA history.

Cat was the player I hated to see go the most......good defender and three point shooter.

I'm dying to see Francis back in Houston, this guy is one of my favorite players, seeing how he has basically become a shadow of his former self in New York really bothers me. I don't know if he will be back in all star form, by returning to Houston, but I feel he would be back to at least 14-16 points a game, and a upgrade over Rafer Alston.

If Francis can play unselfishly and get his points within the system then he would be a great addition. If not then I rather he stay on the Knicks.

If we could get Francis for next to nothing the why not?

He obviously loves and respects the Rox if he wants back in. That or he's jumping on the bandwagon for a ring.

Seeing what he has become, I wouldn't be surprised if he is willing to change his style of play. Under first year withJVG, he held back the scoring and concentrated on other facets of his game. He could bring that back.

That being said, there is a higher risk than reward. Those risks have been outlined by previous posts.
