<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">BANGKOK, Thailand (AP) -- From the creators of the $25,000 dinner, there's another pricey gourmet feast on the horizon.
Wealthy foodies can mark their calendars for Dec. 12, 2008, when top chefs from around the world will be flown to Egypt to cook a dinner in front of the ancient Pyramids of Giza, organizer Deepak Ohri said Monday.

This dinner will be a bargain, at least compared to the one in Bangkok last month that was billed as the meal of a lifetime and cooked by six 3-star Michelin chefs for $25,000 a head. High-rolling food lovers flew in from the United States, Europe, the Middle East and across Asia for the 40-seat dinner.

The price for dining beside the pyramids has not yet been set, but it will cost less than $10,000 per person, said Ohri, the managing director of Bangkok's luxury Lebua hotel, the event planner behind the dinners that are boldly titled "Epicurean Masters of the World."

Though cheaper, the upcoming feast is intended to be even grander than its predecessor.</div>

Ok so visiting the Pyramids of Egypt is surreal. We all know that. Honestly though, as nice as it is that the money being spent for a $10,000 per person dinner is going to two charities, you have to think to yourself that these people are disgusting shames. I mean seriously, if you have $10,000 to just splash around for snob dinner parties you must be bored as all hell. Please, I don't care where the dinner takes place. Any of them will just do it for a status push.

If they have the money too, why not? How are they disgusting shames? The money is going to charity?

The charities are the only nice part about this aside from the place they'll actually be eating at. My point though is that people do this for status, not really for the charities. That is what shames them. [IMG]

All this and all that, yet when these people sit down and eat their expensive meals and oogle at the site of the pyramids, they will oogle with a deterioration of knowledge at them. Things like this go explicitly against what the pyramids stand for. I love how we take a place of unity and global-consciousness and turn it into a greedy feast full of self-imposed egomaniacal jackoffs. Good going humans!

First off, looking at the pyramids from an engineering standpoint, the technology they worked with, or rather lack thereof was amazing. To build such an enormous figure and then have nothing like it spring up for the next couple of generations shows the prowess the Egyptians had up their sleeves. There are certain stones that weigh up to a ton, and there are millions of them! Current scientists and even some engineers argue that we couldn't build such a thing in today's world. Proving once again the genius of the Egyptian civilization. It stood, while in the coming generations The Tower of Babel collapsed, Sodom & Gomorrah fell, the Exodus went by, but yet the pyramids remained.

One of the huge things surrounding the pyramids are the relationship they share with the Belt of Orion. They line up! Now here's some tidbits of information as well:
    <ul>
[*]The Great Pyramid was used as a sundial.
[*]The Great Pyramid was used to indicate solstices and equinoxes.
[*]The Great Pyramid is the most accurately aligned structure in existence.
[*]The curvature of the Great Pyramid matches the radius of the earth.
[*]The Great Pyramid could be seen from the mountains in Israel and probably the moon.
[*]The pyramid is the only remaining structure of the 7 wonders of the ancient world.
[*]The Great Pyramid is located at the center of the land mass of the earth. The east/west parallel that crosses the most land and the north/south meridian that crosses the most land intersect in two places on the earth, one in the ocean and the other at the Great Pyramid.
    [/list]

...men are capable of perceiving the Pyramid in an astonishing number of ways. Some have thought the Pyramid was an astronomic and astrological observatory. Some have thought it functioned as the equivalent of a theodolite for surveyors in ancient times... Some think it performed as a giant sundial... Some think it records the mathematics and science of a civilization which vanished... Some think it is a huge water pump. Others have thought it was filled with fabulous treasures... One early investigator came away convinced it was the remains of a huge volcano. Another thought the pyramids were Joseph's granaries. Some thought they were heathen idols which should be destroyed. Some believe the Pyramid captures powerful cosmic energies... Some think it is a tomb. Some think it is a Bible in stone with prophecies built into the scheme of its internal passages... Some think it was a mammoth public works project which consolidated the position of the pharaoh and the unity of the nation. Some think it was built by beings from outer space. Some say it was a temple of initiation. Some hold that it was an instrument of science. Some believe it is an altar of Guild built through direct Divine Revelation. And today, judging by the uses to which it has been put, some apparently think it is an outhouse. - William Fix

So, yeah you could take it as being nothing than a huge three-dimensional triangle, or you could inform yourself and realize there's more to it. Either way, it's your loss.

So, you're not entertained by human intelligence? Did you not "think" when you saw them.

    ^^LMFAO at your avatar Sasha.

thedude990, maybe you're numbed to the experience of the pyramids, or you don't know enough about them to marvel at them like someone seeing it for the first time does. Think back when you first saw them, were you blown away by it or was it boring for you and you were anxious to get back to your hotel room to watch movies and play video games?

I can relate to how you feel then. Growing up in San Francisco I always took the Golden Gate Bridge and some other historical landmarks for granted. You see them everyday and they just become a norm for you. However, people visiting San Francisco are amazed by the Golden Gate Bridge because they've never seen anything like it before. Hopefully you learn to appreciate them more as you mature.

    lol.

Wouldn't it be better if they just gave 10k to starving people in Africa for food? I know it's going to charities and all, but wouldn't it be much easier if they wanted to help people by just being directly proactive? This has nothing to do with being charitable.
