<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Kobe Bryant was atop another list of jersey sales, only this one didn't originate in the U.S. Try Beijing. Bryant has the top-selling jersey in China so far this season, significantly better than Houston Rockets center Yao Ming, according to sales figures to be released today by the NBA. Bryant also had the top-selling jersey in the U.S. based on data released by the league two months ago. He had the fourth-most-popular jersey last season in China. Yao, third in China last season, has slipped to sixth. Denver guard Allen Iverson has the second-most-popular jersey in China, behind Bryant.</div> Source
Wow. That is very suprising, i would expect T-Mac's jersey to be #1, it was #1 last year right? What spot is T-Mac's jersey this year?

Not really. Most kids aspire to be the next Michael Jordan, not Kareem. Guards to them are far more glamourous then centers.
Why does everyone always compare jersey sales to Yao? Most kids that buy jerseys in China already have Yao and TMac's. There's apparently also another breed that dislike Yao. believing that he's just big and lumbers around on the court. I don't think that group would have Yao jerseys.
It's probably because he switched numbers this season. A lot of his fans would've bought his new jersey, while most of Yao's fans already have his jersey.

Just came back from China 2 days ago. They have Kobe and LeBron everywhere. I saw Wade poster too... no Yao and no T-Wack.
I once saw a billboard advertising a "Kobe" brand basketball sneaker the time I went to China a little over 2 years ago. It was obviously riding on Kobe Bryant's popularity, although the ad didn't use Kobe's image, it used KB8 as a model number. Kobe is BIG in China. People over there only care about his game on the court. They don't care about his Colorado case and stuff, for them Westerners are always sex-crazed anyway.
<div class="quote_poster">TopLake Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">Even the chinese media loves Kobe. Not like those here continue to hate kobe....</div> Jealously is the ultimate form of flattery. The media did the same thing to Michael Jordan and only started recognizing his greatness at the end of his career. Negative images sell more than positive ones.
